I'm so glad that they started making this! My kidney cat loves it. She doesn't like most kidney food, and the dry food made her gain too much weight.

I'm glad one of the healthier brands made Rx food to relieve us of the stronghold the evil 3 [Purina, Royal Canin, Hills] have on Rx food market. Thank you Weruva!

My 22 year old ginger girl will eat this food. She is so picky!

This is awesome. I'm so glad they came out with this and that you covered it (and why it's not AAFCO certified). I wish I had known this when my aunt's cat had such trouble with CKD. I also love that it is high in protein because all the low protein content (mostly from plants) food makes me mad.

Could you get some clarification on this food? I've tried getting some information on it but I can't seem to find out if this is supposed to be used as a regular meal or a supplement? Or do you feed it with other types of food? It's labeled as not nutritionally complete and I know that has to do with the phosphorus. But also isn't an issue with cats with kidney disease their protein intake? How does this food help with that?

I had to put my Tigger boy down yesterday 😭💔. He was only 6 years but was in kidney failure and he was suffering. I am heartbroken 💔. I still have one fur baby thank God and she is 8 years and I hope she lives a long time.

One thing to mention on the topic --- apparently, there's at least one study that suggests that vaccines (I think specifically the FVRPC) may be linked to kidney disease in cats. IIRC this might be due to the vaccines using kidney cells, which has a side effect of causing cats to have an inflammatory response to their own kidneys. Apparently the rate of kidney disease in cats ballooned ever since vaccines were introduced, so there's some correlation there too. Now, this isn't a recommendation against vaccines altogether, since they do protect against life-threatening disease --- but more up-to-date veterinarians are recommending getting only the bare minimum of vaccines needed for your cats. If your vet is requiring you to get the shots yearly, I would suggest talking with them about it, or finding another vet that vaccinates on a less aggressive schedule.

I've tried weruva wx and I love that they have this line. I just wish they had more proteins besides chicken or fish. Tuna isn't the best for cats. 1 of my CKD cats will eat them, the other one will eat the chicken one, but rarely more than half a can. I use a treat or some other crumbly food topper to get him to eat more of it

Weruva website says, the Wx line is not complete and balanced, and should not be fed as the only meal. Weruva's regular type, contains phosphates.

As long as the phosphorus level is between 0.5 and 0.8 it meets the requirements of SACN. Wx only has 0.35 to 0.42% Not enough to maintain proper nutrition. Weruva has several recipes that fall within required range

Add a human grade "beef liver supplement" with a "blue green algae supplement" and you are set !!! Dont forget moistening with WATER!
Your pet has all the nutrients they need! Research dosages for your own loved one!!!

My cat declined and I had to put her to sleep in October due to kidney disease. I didn't want her to suffer needlessly. I had waited too long in the past with my first cat. This time I knew that it was time. But your head and your heart never match up on this.

The website says it’s only a feeding supplement? Are they saying this because of the low phosphorus levels? I really need a low pho cat food I’ve tried them all and my cat eats them for a week then stops or they give her diarrhea. I’m planning to make homemade soon but I need a canned one for now

This is great, but it is not available in Canada. My cat also has a preference for the FF in gravies. I wanted to switch to Farmina (N and D) UTI food (from Italy). Another fairly new Canadian brand is Boreal, but I am not sure if they do canned. Low phosphorous dry paired with her favourite wet. I wonder if she will ever get off FF, and believe it or not she doesn’t eat the whole can usually (1/8 to 1/2) and I don’t give her much kibble either. Her feeding bowl is very shallow, and the amount I give just grazes the bottom of her dish.

Does anyone know of a similar product that's avalible in Europe/Scandinavia?
I have a 2 year old that just got diagnosed with CKD (likely born with it) and I'm hesitant to go from feeding a species appropriate, high protein diet, to a low. I've been trying to find good options but it seems RC, Hills and Purina are about the only options for CDK cats. He's an active and well muscled cat, it seems drastic to feed him so little protein in the early stages.

Yea two of my cats have kidney issues and one of them is so picky about their food we can’t get them to eat it without using this hunger inducing liquid medicine (forget the name off the top my head) but it’s so difficult getting that medicine in their mouth

Unfortunately all the gums they add cause GI distress to many cats. Hope they aren’t included in this new line

My cat was recently dx with CKD and I just switched her to this food. I had a cat that passed from CKD in 2016 and I wish this had been available for him at the time.
