Thank you so much for this, as someone getting a kitten soon I had no idea just how deep the rabbit hole went with trying to find good cat food

I gave the biggest yes when you said Nulo. That's the wet brand that I am giving! My cats love the three large can formats and it helps that I rotate between flavours!

Pet parents! If you're not aware of the catfooddb website it's been an absolute godsend for me trying to assess which brands to feed my cat. They do reviews on hundreds of cat food products to give us most of the information we need to be better informed in the most neutral way they can. It's saved me a ton of time!

I would be especially aware of carb content in cat food. Cats only need between 3-6% carbs as fed to follow the "rat in a can" model. Some brands can have as much as 40% as fed. It's insane. Excess carbs/proteins from vegetable sources (potato, peas/beans, etc) aren't bioavailable to cats which discourages digestibility and may lead to tummy troubles, diabetes, and even kidney considerations.

I'm currently trying to make the switch from Instinct since it is too expensive. We even supplement with raw food, but my cats are still hungry. It said to feed one cat 1¼-1½ 5.5 oz can PER DAY, and I have 2 cats. I spend about $179 for a 12 week supply (48 cans, 24 duck and 24 turkey). For Nulo, it would be about $100 for 48 5.5 oz cans (24 chicken & duck, 24 beef & lamb). Prices include the Chewy 5% autoship discount. I think im going to try out the Nulo for now.

Just got it for under for 20 cents an OZ on Amazon. The other day I was on the phone explaining we’ll have to find something superior to the meow mix we picked up in a pinch, hopefully it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. This short was the first thing that popped up the next time I opened the app. After browsing at all the different canned wet foods for a couple days, really can’t ignore the price so long as she likes it

Yay! I use Nulo canned dog food as a supplement for the dry food for the doggie I sometimes care for. I use the mini-cans as supplements for one of my cats who needs extra calories as well as a supplement for the dry ferret food.

Thank you for all the research, care, & hard work you put into educational videos that help us make more informed decisions & provide the best possible life for our cats!
I'm so glad I found this video today.

The only problem with a 12 can, is every cat I've ever had loses interest in the food after it been open and re-refrigerated .
No matter how unpicky, or loved the particular food was . It's difficult enough to reduce wet food waste, but unless someone is feeding a half dozen cats in a go .... anyhow, I dont have to think one that a 12oz can is an absolute no-go for my two relatively un-finnincky girls .
Just something to consider ... I like Fancy F, and the FF petites .
The more they finish on the first go, the less waste 💸 .
Hey, nobody PREFERS leftovers , right ?😅

Have you seen the reviews (on chewy) with this Nulo recipe as of lately? It seems that they have had a rapid decline in quality. I found this out recently, as I bought my new kitten this food (for the price and ingredient benefits) and was very disappointed. He won’t hardly touch it. Eventually after my suspicions got to be too much, I went to the reviews on chewy.. something doesn’t seem quite quite right with Nulo now.

Totally agree 👍
For a little over a $1 more you get another 1.5 ounces of food.
Compared, two 5.5 ounce cans to the 12.5 ounce can.
Been buying the 12.5 for months now as Nulo has become a regular food within my cats diet.
He eats a few different brands and flavors, I wish all the brands he eats offered these big cans.

Unfortunately, my cat doesn't like the pate she loves the shredded or minced or pouches. With the cans being close to $2 for a 2.8oz and over 2 for the pouch, I don't consider Nulo budget.

I wish more companies sold cat food in 12 oz. cans. It’s usually much cheaper, but there are so few available. My cats will no longer eat Wellness or American Journey. I’ll try Nulo, but one of mine seems to be allergic to turkey. 🙁

My cat enjoys nulo dry, but she will not touch the wet food, it saddens me because I know it's such a good food. I just stick with feeding her sheba wet food since she will eat that

I'm really trying to get my cats to like this, but they really aren't going for it. I have even added some bone broth to the pate and will sprinkle some freeze dried chicken on top. My picky boy will only really eat the freeze dried chicken, but not finish the pate. Any suggestions? The price point and can size is great, but not if my cat won't actually eat it.

Looks good, but I can hardly call over $3 per can (in a 12 pack, slightly less per can in a 48 can case, but still...) any part of a "budget cat food". Yes, great ingedients....but I can't afford it.

I haven't seen it in the stores in my area.

What about American Journey? I was able to get it for $0.27/oz which is slightly cheaper than Nulo Freestyle at $0.29/oz
