I tried understanding Xiaomi names (and failed)

Xiaomi has 3 different names for a single phone, has 10 way to say "lite" and 8 different ways to say "pro". Why are their names so confusing?

You mentioned that the Redmi 3S is a cheaper version of the 3 but here's a fun fact: The Redmi 3S (also called 3X in some markets) came around six months later and was cheaper by about 30 euros but the Redmi 3S *Prime* had better specs overall and more features while costing the same as the Redmi 3 (so like the 8A Pro, a Lite and a Pro version at the same time???)

Earlier today I was thinking about how companies acting in free markets usually "herd" together such that consumer choice is often frustratingly limited despite a vast possibility space existing (I'm not sure but it might be a risk minimisation strategy).
