The true story of Alan Turing and first computer, this work has inspired generations of researchers.

In 1939, a British intelligence agency called MI6 hired a man named Alan Turing, who was good at math, to try and break secret codes used by the Nazis during World War II. The most difficult code was called Enigma, which people thought was impossible to break. Turing worked with a team, including a woman named Joan Clarke, to analyze these secret messages. He also built a machine to help them decode the messages. After a lot of hard work, they were finally able to break the code and become heroes. However, in 1952, Turing was sent to prison and faced disgrace because he was gay.

This movie is one of the greatest of all time, with the lead actor delivering a flawless performance. It's based on a true story and the ending is incredibly moving. It's one of the finest biographical films ever made, giving us an insight into the real-life events. 😍

The even more important code was the Lorenz Cypher, used by Hitler to send messages to his submarine "Wolf Packs".

The machine used to crack the Lorenz Cypher was called Colossus, and was designed by a Post Office engineer called Tommy Flowers.

Don't forget to mention the Irishman who broke a vital code that the other people at enigma could not. His name was Richard Hayes.

The part where John is a Soviet Spy is correct but he worked in another hut and didn't know where the solution was coming from.

What is so sad about Alan Turings life is that despite his brilliance; the countless lives he saved and the role he played in defeating the evil of the Nazi Regime; it’s always the fact he was gay arises not to mention he was chemically castrated as a means of treatment to being gay at that time in the world

1:40 I think it’s something like over 158 quintillion! The average person can’t fathom that number! But if you were to take something about the size of a strand of hair. Taking 158, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000 strands of hair side-by-side, it would extend over 1.5 light years! The red dwarf star Gliese 436, in the Leo constellation is roughly 1.5 L away! In other words, it’s quite a big number

Sometimes movies about spies in World War II can be boring because we have to remember a lot of details. But that's not true for The Imitation Game, which is a movie about a smart guy named Alan Turing. The movie is exciting all the way through and I really liked it. Benedict Cumberbatch does a great job playing Turing, who is a bit weird but still likable. The movie also talks about things like being gay, which was not accepted back then, and how hard it can be to be really smart but different from other people. Turing also has a good friend who is a woman and they work well together. 🤠

You got me at "War in London", AI needs an update.

This is a very interesting clip, but the AI narration is monotonous and the sound is unpleasant. Why can't you employ real people to give this narrative some sense of life?

Germans were right. Enigma WAS unbreakable as not even having the machine would do it. you needed the starting position or a machine to go through millions if you could reduce the numbers to search. Reason you couldnt do it by hand is the brilliance, that the letter for say B kept changing all through the mesg so substitution or patterns wont work. Whats also amazing is with all that talent to break the code, no one but turing thought of making a machine to help break it?? You had complex gun sights and calculators integrated in planes and ground ground to calculate where you guns needed to point allowing for planes movement ect.

What people don't realise is that when Turing was on trial one word or hint from Churchill about his importance to the war effort could have meant no, or reduced punishment, but Winston couldn't be bothered. Wonderful people our leaders.
