Drew, I've noticed you've been acquiring a lot of brown furnishings lately.
Years ago, like 30 years ago, I read an article that said colors pertain to your mood, how you are feeling about life.
Counter to what I would have thought, I remember the writer said brown was popular or trending when one is feeling satisfied with life. Happy.
I guess it's true, because you seem so happy since finding your house.

The horizontal "jug" you found (6:50) with the cork screw plug is actually an old fashioned bed warmer. Put hot water in it and place it under the covers at the foot of the bed to warm your feet on cold nights. I actually have one! Great find! 💙

The rug that britney found was a prayer mat and the uneven design is for pointing in the direction for prayer. It's pretty thou and could be used as a rug

Hi Drew, I am Turkish and I think your sink isn't a sink but the stone traditionally laid in front of manual water pumps, to get water from wells. That's why the hole is on the side, they laid those on the ground

I actually love the African chairs in your home. It's an unexpected element that still totally goes with everything else because of the dark wood. I appreciate that you are trying to be respectful of the history of the home but feel free to add your own history. It's not like you are knocking everything down and making it a contemporary, minimalist home. I am loving this process!

I also thought the sinks would make a gorgeous outdoor garden water piece.

OMG. Please do not cut up that table runner!!!! When I saw that hand stitching and you said you could cut them up my heart hurt! Please use it in one piece ; a wall hanging in a two story foyer, or a table runner, a mock canopy over a bed or at the end of a bed. The possibilities are endless!!! Love all your finds!!!!

I love that you find things that are not only beautiful, but also authentic, period appropriate and high quality pieces with a story. So many people just go buy a bunch of junk from RH and call it design… lol Keep up the great work!

Drew, Drew, Drew!! I cannot be the only mother of a redheaded son that is nearly nauseous after seeing your sunburn!! EVERYDAY, wake up, brush your teeth, wash your face, and PUT SUNSCREEN on your face, throat, neck and arms!!! EVERYDAY!! Or you will not be so handsome at 40, 50 and older. Trust me.

Loved this! The bottle you found with the stopper is actually an old fashioned bed warmer. It would have been filled with hot water and put into the bed (usually where your feet would lie) to warm the bed for you in winter xx

Hi Drew, My mum has the same beautiful fabric which you refer to as the African mud cloth. She has two large pieces hanging either side of her curtains in her bedroom, in Nambucca Heads NSW in Australia. Her name is Ang and is 89 years old and still loving her life. She spends many hours weaving. We love you Drew. Happy hunting for many more treasures.

I bought a Helix mattress this spring and found it didn't work for me (I love my "Big Fig" mattress — as in big figure). Helix made it so easy to return their mattress. A local person (by day he's a nurse) came to pick it up. He spread a sheet of plastic on my driveway, placed the twin mattress in it, folded it in half and "gift wrapped" it, then took it to a Habitat for Humanity charity. I was refunded my money quickly.
Turns out big figures prefer a much firmer mattress.
So fun to watch the bed in a box expand.

Helix let me keep the two free pillows. They're very lofty.

That sink is absolutely gorgeous! Just a caution – make sure that the furniture piece you use underneath it can carry the weight. ❤️

Drew - you and Brittany were very lucky for an overcast morning for Long Beach Flee Market. You are attracted to tribal, Moroccan and 1930's vintage- and that represents a wonderful exciting moment in history - 1930's with PAN AMERICAN airlines people start traveling the globe, National Geographic Magazine is published, the traditional handcrafts of Africa, Arabia, Morocco and Spain ( carpets, leather, glass) start to show-up in America, UK, Paris and FILM NOIR is all about this decor. You could call this decorative vibe ' global safari' because it's about travel: choosing the unusual and may be even the dangerous path to travel hunting for treasure. DO some virtual time travel with Humphrey Bogart and Peter Lorre in the 'Maltese Falcon'( the yacht !) and 'Casablanca' for the sets
