In the manga they explained that eren used his back legs to move, but the rear ribs of the titan would get lifted off the ground causing a wave of flexion through the spine, lifting up and moving the ribs forward, essentially moving like a caterpillar

I assumed its ribcage moving against the ground was how it moved since the rib cage is not enclosed. Yes very much like a centipede. Think of the ends of the ribs touching the ground like feet digging into the ground to move.

Pretty sure the "bones" Eren is walking on are the legs of the thing that originally bonded to Ymir. It looks like bones because it's an invertebrate.

Considering he's "possessed" by the centipede/spinal cord creature that gave Ymir her powers, I assume he uses those ribs like a centipede as well, actually since his actual ribcage is separate it could be an entirely different thing, articulated legs above his actual legs
