I'm happy that you are trying to improve yourself and I agree that your friends may have a high influence in that path that you choose in life, however I disagree on ending friendships because they don't meet your standard of what is good enough. If you want "high value" friends so much, perhaps you should just focus on self improving so much so that it will motivate* the people around you to start doing better. Just my thoughts.
