Surfbone is so good at explaining he made me from a D- power scaler to a S+ power scaler in just like 1 week

The idea of Combat speed and Reaction not always being necessarily relative can also be seen in boxing and other combat sports. Speaking from personal experience it sucks when you can see an attack coming/know what your opponent is trying to hit you with and not be able to move out of the way in time.

From those who just want the “quick” answer
Combat speed: How fast you can throw a punch
Reaction speed: How fast is the fastest punch you can dodge
Travel speed: How fast you can get from point A to point B

I have been expecting this video duo to my reaction speed.
But duo to my lack of combat speed, my click was later then most other people.
This does not apply to my travel speed which only has to do with the speed at which i traveled towards my device via walking.

I like how this video has the same principles as when I educated myself on speed tiering, speed types. Well done

Great Video! These videos have been really helpful when I showed them to new scalers and debaters. It helps the concepts to truly click in their brains. Very comprehensive.

When ppl argue X character moving so slow thus not FTL lol
This video is for them that travel speed ≠ combat or reaction or any other category of speed

I just discovered this channel and by far it is the best in-depth power scaling channel, love it!
Also i would love a video on hax since it's still boggling with my mind...

I like how Batman explained the difference. "Who is faster, Bruce Lee or Usain Bolt?" Usain Bolt could run somewhere faster than Bruce Lee, but Bruce Lee could punch Usain Bolt before he could react.

After some thought, I remembered how on OBS, in order to help with the confusion about how someone could have good reactions but could still fail to get out of the way of things, they made a further distinction between Perception Speed and Reaction Speed.

6:49 Damn, i was scared that you would deny that Spider Man has FTL reaction speed

You don't necessarily need ftl reaction speed to dodge a laser if you can simply see the gun first.

People don't travel or "run" when they fight h2h. Most h2h combat doesn't involve traveling(like boxing for example). Would the person's combat speed be slower or the same speed as when traveling? That's when the problem arises. Yes, if said character is traveling at say, speed of light, then sure, their combat speed should be relative to traveling speed. That doesn't mean that if you're fighting h2h your combat speed would be light speed. If we want to be technical, when throwing a punch as you run, your punches won't be as effective. Do you think the weak punches Rocky threw when he was jogging will hurt or ko anyone? There's a reason you don't see people running and punching at the same time in a fight. This is especially true when running at top speed. Look at the sprinters for example. Do you seriously think they can punch as hard when running at any speed compared to a punch thrown from being grounded and with technique? In order to have an effective punch, the sprinter would have to ground themselves, stopping and/or slowing their momentum. That's all facts. Don't believe me? Try it yourself. Run for a few meters and jab, hook, straight. Notice how weak they feel? Especially the hooks? Throws you off don't it? Next, get in a fighting stance and throw jab, hook, straight. Feel the difference or are you a noob? Next, run and then transition into a powerful straight. Notice the lag, the sudden stop?

As for reaction speed, perception, and movement time, you're confusing the three. Movement time IS reaction time. Reaction speed and perception are independent of one another. Debunk down below.

React definition: respond or behave in a particular way in response to something.
Perception: the ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through the senses.

Your logic states Saskue has a higher reaction time because he can perceive Lee. Even if saskue could perceive lee, saskue couldn't REACT to lee. That means his REACTion time is possibly slower than his own combat speed and definitely slower than lee's combat speed. Perceiving something isn't REACTing. REACTion requires physical motion(what you called "movement time"), perceiving does not. In other terms, Saskue's PERCEPTION SPEED is *faster* than Lee's COMBAT SPEED but his REACTION SPEED is *slower* than Lee's combat speed. This almost seem to suggest reaction speed is = or greater than combat speed.

In conclusion, travel speed =/= combat speed. Reaction =/= perception.

Get some sleep next time instead of an all-nighter. You won't make any mistakes then.

Great video, but the car example for aimdodging could've been done better. You can dodge a car provided you are at a distance. It doesn't mean you're as fast as the car, but can move quick enough to get out of the way of it at that distance. The laser example is a good one; the character doesn't "dodge" the laser by moving out of the way of it when they are in the line of sight of it, but, rather, dodge being aimed at.
