I think one of the reasons this movie failed compared to 28 Days Later is because we can only take so many stupid decisions in one movie. At some point, we're just going to stop rooting for the characters to survive when they're all idiots. In the original, Jim and the rest of the main characters make a few dumb mistakes, but first the most part, they are smart and brave. We like them (at least most of us do), and we want them to survive. 28 Weeks' opening scene is brilliant, but the decision to let people back into the country while they're still burning bodies and sterilizing everything makes no sense. Every building, every car, every tunnel, every single thing needs to be thoroughly inspected and sterilized - it would take years. I know kids don't always make the best decisions, but sneaking off to their old home is ridiculous. Why not just wait until it's been deemed safe? Alice should be a blessing - they could eventually produce a vaccine from her blood. But jeepers, let's just leave her with absolutely no security around her! There should be multiple, top-tier guards in her room at all time. That's really bad writing. Then they throw a bunch of civilians in a garage with no armed guards and weak-ass doors. Flynn doesn't let Doyle get on the helicopter with the others - that's the right decision! But later, he changes his mind and lets the kids on the helicopter. (!) Then at the end, the infected run through the channel tunnel into France. Wouldn't they have 100% sealed that up? Ug. Anyhow, too many dumb decisions on every level by every character! it's really important for writers to find a way to put their characters in peril without those characters making stupid-ass decisions. Lol, just my two cents!

this movie is basically just one terrible decision after another... you forgot to mention how Doyle saw the kids escape and thats how they found them.

the Military was also told to shoot on sight anyone trying to break out of the quarantine zone as it was too dangerous to risk them getting infected and coming back, so technically Doyle is to blame for this entire thing as he didnt kill the dumbass kids.

The great Ideas made by people in this movie
1. Letting an infected stay alive not knowing if she’ll turn full zombie and she is just delaying the infection.
2. Sending in civilians in an active zone they know has remains of zombies that could infect them because what I know is that blood can turn a person.
3. Not having more guards in the room with the infected person like what was their thinking “let’s have a person who carries a very spreadable virus be completely alone.” Like wtf.
4. Not just nuking London like you all know if it was to escape the Uk it would destroy humanity and the only reason they survived the first outbreak is because the United Kingdom is an island with limited people unlike and entire continent that is also connected to two other continents that makes up about 3/8 of the world’s populations probably more.
5. Not leaving the United Kingdom alone after the infection like you don’t have to go back into the UK you could just relocate the few survivors left they don’t need their old homes just nuke the island and stop the end of the world.
6. Letting another infected person leave the UK. Like I get that he’s a kid of a women that had genetic that fought back against the virus but he is an offspring of that woman so the genetic are probably weaker due to the father not having an immunity against the zombie virus.

There is only one thing iIl never understand, why would you lock up the only survivor you found in months without any soldiers or cameras?

Its not like they were that short on men, there were no zombies for 28 Weeks, so no casulties or anything.

To be fair, the father did fight of the zombies in the house and won, but after a point he just got scared and decided to run, which was a good choice.

He got away and his kids got away.

Only the mother that stayed with the kid didn't make it at first. Had the guy stayed to fight he wouldn't have made it to the boat, and it's unsure if the mother and kid would have survived either way.

If he did stay who's to say the mother and kid would have made the same decisions as befor to survive.

I like zombie movies but I'd like it more if the heroes made better choices. Infected woman, give her husband unrestricted access to the room as he's the caretaker of the district. Have an infected kid, let him out to infect the world. have they never heard of Typhoid Mary? carriers are a thing in many virusses.

The recap was better than the movie. If the kids stayed in secured zone, none of this would have happened.
