Misconceptions about BRCA

Dr. Arelis Martir-Negron, Medical Geneticist with Miami Cancer Institute, says when somebody has BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 mutation is in risk of breast cancer. The average is 12 % of the population.

She also refers to a Canadian investigation in which the specialists found a risk for ovarian cancer and other types of cancer.

However, she affirms if a patient has a mutation, it doesn’t mean that he develops cancer.
