Science masters was pretty fair. One thing I've noticed working in science industry is that adding an MS after having a few years of work experience can really boost your opportunities. With 4 years of experience, I went from $60K with my BS in biology to $90K with my MS.

The teacher salary bump my mom got on her master’s was like $1000/year doesn’t even cover interest on the loans!

Check your school district pay schedule.

I hear you talk about the psychology degree in many of your videos. I would like to add that it can be a very lucrative profession. However, the key is getting a masters and becoming licensed to practice at an INDEPENDENT level in your state. For, example LPC, LCSW, LMFT, Psychologist, ABA therapist. They can all easily make 6 figures in private practice or contracting. Reimbursement from insurance companies for psychotherapy falls within a ranch of 70 to 120 per hour. There is a shortage of school psychologist. They can do very well just administering and interpreting psychological test. I have three contracts lowest paying in 80 per hour and the highest is 125. The key is moving beyond state jobs and community mental health. Love your channel.

S tier: Data Science, DNP, Physician assistant and TEM (tech, engineering and math).
You are most welcome, and I am slightly surprised Finance wasn’t mentioned, but I think that’s because bachelor in it is sufficient.

Shane you should do the most versatile/flexible bachelor degree tier list. I want to be able to switch to a different kind of job while being in the same field

So I work as a machine learning engineer and from what I've seen in the industry, if you're going into data science, you're better off getting a masters degree in either math, statistics, or CS instead of data science. The reason for that is that a data science degree tends to be pretty broad.

Also, data scientist is a very watered down term nowadays. A data scientist could be anything from a data analyst who's doing a little bit of programming to draw insights from data, to a glorified business analyst who's working with excel, to a machine learning researcher.

Thus if you're trying to be a machine learning engineer or researcher, a CS masters degree will be better. If you're going into data analytics or business intelligence, then you're off doing statistics or math.

You forgot to mention Master’s degree in Public Health. This degree offers a wide range of specialty that you can earn between 80, 000 to 170, 000 (sometimes if working internationally it go as high as 200, 000). It can go high depending on your experience and global exposure as well.
Because of pandemic, salary under this degree went up and if you’re a graduate of world ranking universities starting salary sometimes 100, 000/year.
MPH in Epidemiology
MPH in Infectious Diseases
MPH in Medical Microbiology
MPH in Genetic Counseling
MPH in Biological Science
MPH in Global Health
MPH in Clinical Trials/Vaccine Development
MPH in Biostatistics
MPH in Occupational Health
MPH in Environmental Health

Right now, I’m an MPH graduate and working as a Clinical Scientist and I earned 160, 000 last year.

That moment when you realize Shane hasn't yet done an MBA video.

A Masters of Social Work is considered the standard professional level for a social worker . A Doctorate is not going to gain much beyond teaching or research. It doesn't pay much, but that is another story.

Hi Shane, , the thing is that, with a humanities/social science masters degree working for the government actually is not bad. Government jobs are very merit based, so by having a masters degree it can help you get promoted up and entitled you to a better pay grade than someone else with a lower level degree. I plan on going for a masters degree in English because despite being passionate about the subject, it gives me a chance to sharpen my writing skills where my talent lies, plus when I inevitably try to get a government job, it will nice taking home some extra money at the higher pay grade. You can also be a professional proofreader and market yourself as a writing specialist. I could market myself as a business writer with my undergraduate business degree and with the English masters...

Keep it up Shane! We really appreciate all the valuable info you give us. Was hoping for a Master's degree top 10 video update, but your tier list video is good enough for me. Cheers! 😀

In the US, a US citizen should not have to pay for a graduate degree in engineering. If you do, you shouldn’t be in the program. There are plenty of ways to get it paid for.

There's always PA/NP but rarely a mention of nurse anesthetist. I make 2-3x more than PA/NP.

I think I would split physics from biology and chemistry in the master of science. A masters of physics is so math heavy they become uniquely employable. It’s pretty common to see grad level physics companies eaten up in tech and especially in finance (Quants mostly) since it is hard to find anyone that skilled at math

Data science FTW! I think I’m sticking with just a Bachelors. Great info, Shane!

What about Master of Public Health? I have a Master of Science in Public Health degree. I have worked as an exercise specialist in cardiac rehab, patient educator, health program coordinator, health program trainer, and health educator (19 years). I'm currently working as a health Coach for Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliate in Hawaii (7 years). All my friends with public health degrees have jobs.
