Estimate a Square Root

This clip briefly reviews the relationship between square and square root and details a process for estimating square roots.

The square root of a number is the number which when multiplied by itself equals the original number. For example the square root of 16 is 4 because 4x4 = 16. However for most numbers there is not a whole number square root. For example there is no number which times itself equals seven. Therefore it is useful to estimate or approximate such square roots.
