Wide Leg 1930s Pants- Queer Sewing

I made a pair of dramatic wide legged pants in the style of the 1930s palazzo pants. These were made out of a raw silk fabric that was given to me, and a self drafted pattern. These were made over the course of a week, and now in the world exists another pair of gay pants!

Unfortunately, I’m not queer, but I’ve been making my own wide-ass straight leg 1930s pants because they hang so nicely. Great video.

Interesting part about the history, in Scotland they had invented a sort of leggings called trews (which predate kilts) made from tartan or tweed and which could be cut on the bias and tight like split hose, but which were joined, or more baggy looking similar to knickerbockers. They eventually turned into something more like modern trousers and it’s where we get the term “trouser”, though I don’t know if our trousers are actually descended from trews

Loved the beautiful trousers and the mini history lesson :) I'm realising more and more how much I love pleats, tucks, ruffles, etc.
