The 1950s were certainly cheerier than the 1940s. It was the age of increasing comfort and convenience. And it did see the birth of the teenager, of a rebellious youth, and the different fashions and styles that came along with it.

You can see that the 1950s was a colossal decade for fashion. Despite the post-war issues at the time, consumerism was booming and people were enjoying fashion and freedom to its fullest extent.

Casual clothing is becoming much more mainstream, and so most men are ditching the suit after work and slipping into clothes we might recognize ourselves wearing today. This really is such a wide-ranging decade when it comes to clothing, and we hope that we’ve managed to capture most of it to the best of our ability for this video.

My parents graduated high school in the '50s but on opposite ends of the decade, as Dad graduated in the early 50's (Truman era-still some 40's influence) and Mom in the late 50's (Eisenhower era). You can tell from looking at the yearbook and class photos the evolution of clothing within the decade itself.

I am so obsessed with these wide collar shirts of the 50s. But it’s so hard to find them nowadays.

I remember my dad wearing very wide-legged trousers. There were even special metal frames that were put in the trouser legs, when not being worn, to keep the fabric taut and preserve the crease. This would have been late 1950's.

My grandfather worked in the financial sector his entire adult career. From the late 1940's - mid 1980's. He loved photography as a hobby, and so I've been blessed with the experience of growing up with a stylish grandpa who had proof of his style throughout all the decades he worked. He was so stunning in the 1950's, my favorite era for his fashion.

1950s style offers plenty of inspiration for casual outfits which are still dapper. And one can wear 50s outfits today without looking (too) costumey. I love the menswear of that decade. Unfortunately, my late Grandpa didn't keep his older clothes. But I have his cufflinks from the 50s and 60s.

I love casual sports shirts of the 50s and 60s! I bought a sewing pattern and cant stop sewing them! Although i did modify them to have a massive spear collars

The substantial amount of polyester being used in the 1950's is surprising for me. I've always assumed mixed cotton/wool blends from those days was on the dominant side.

The Teddy Boy movement actually kickstarted my interest in men's fashion back when I was about 17 - so 10 years ago 😂 Not wearing Creepers anymore but I surely enjoyed it back in the days

While looking at things online, such as a sterling handled shoehorn, I've come across these things called button hooks and I thought they were for tying shoes but they are used for buttons and I don't understand, and I was wondering if you could do a video on classic accessories for classic Menswear
