Sand paths are looking great but are a pain to maintain, no matter what it slowly keeps mingling with the soil..

This seems to misinform any beginner or novice into thinking they need an unnecessarily large filter. You're killing your filters longevity limiting the flow while also off gassing your co2 with so much surface agitation for the sake of making the first 2 weeks easy. Type of info makes the hobby more expensive than it needs to be when it's already expensive
