I remember a friend of mine telling a long and elaborate story of the burning of Alexandria to another friend once, going for fifteen minutes in his elaborate tale about how christians set the library, filled with all the ancient sciences, ablaze in their judgemental ignorance.

When he was done I asked "so Julius Ceasar was a christian?"

"Huh?"

"Julius Ceasar was the guy to first burn down the library of Alexandria. He was a Christian? How did he become a christian 50 years before christ was born?"

I don't know which I hate more, pop-history or pop-science.

A lot of those other libraries were already in Ruins by the time the Library of Alexandria came about we still lost a lot of knowledge things we are still trying to find out today.

Don’t forget that every new person visiting Alexandria had to give every book/written text they had with them to the library, where these texts where copied. The copies where then given back to the persons. The original stayed in the library
