Imagine the years of writing down works/theories/history, all being held in that library and only to be burned down to ashes..

Wouldn't be surprised if one of the senators that attacked him was for destroying the library

Actually this wasn’t the death knell for the library. By the time of Caesar’s arrival in Egypt the library of Alexandria had already faced decline. It was no longer the bastion of classical education and great repository of ancient knowledge.

Along with the overall decline of Egypt as a nation and empire as well as the diminished importance of Alexandria itself the library also wasn’t as important as it once was and most of the important writings, scrolls, manuscripts, and books had already made their way to other libraries and depositories.

By the time of cleopatra, the library was just a provincial library for the local intelligentsia to gather and pour over copies of ancient text. So while there still was a great loss of ancient knowledge, the extent of loss has been greatly hyperbolized.

We destroyed one of the most important links to our past on that day. There were texts there that would explain things we still struggle to understand and put into context about ourselves to this day.

It wasn't the library of Alexandria that was one of the 7 ancient wonders of the World. It was the LIGHTHOUSE OF ALEXANDRIA.

He didn't, he was ambused with less than a legion in Alexandria, he is negotiating a deal and it turned into a fight and he burned the Egyptian fleet which partially spread to the library, which was lil damage because it continued to operate centuries afterwards. But it was burned because Egypt and Rome had a bar fight basically that excelated fast.

Caesar must have had a pain in the ass time trying to explain to cleopatra how it was an accident.

Imagine if every book in the library were actually just Wattpad stories.

Julius Caesar would be a hero.

Sorry, but this is just wrong. The fires only burned part of the building. The library was still in operation by the 3rd century AD. Many of the scrolls were moved to other libraries as more were built in the city and in other countries. A lack of funds and maintenance would result in much of the material being destroyed due to the climate in Egypt.

An invader named Bakhtiyar Khilji, got seriously ill. None of his doctors and scholars were able to treat him.
But he was treated by principal of Nalanda University (one of the oldest University in world).
He got jealous that a kafir ( non-muslim) was able to treat him.
So he burned the whole University down.
Burning all the teachers, students and all the books and knowledge kept in it.
There were so many books that the library was burning for 3 months.
Because of his jealousy, no one can access the advanced medical and engineering knowledge of that time
