Best description of plate use I have seen. I cryo treat hammers in liquid nitrogen. I keep about 20, 000 gallons around. Seriously. BTW, it will not get to 400 below. Also, each time it is loaded and offloaded it warms up never to go back down. We store over 5 million biological items in ln2 is why I have such access. Also an inventory challenge. Done this for 65 years this year!

this was an absolutely informative video. thanks buddy. if i ever meet this fellow, dinner is definitely on me.
it explains, to some degree, why some manufacturers' blades are so much softer than others...it could be the final step, the choice in material...

Great info as usual!!!! Hey, you can pour denatured alcohol in with your dry ice to lower temps significantly.

Great Video, Have you tried your AEBL process without doing the cryo treatment? I'm just wondering what the negative if any would be if you skipped that part of the process. Thanks

Nice set up a good results. I have exclusively been using AEBL and send out for HT. Problem for me is that I only rough in a short bevel prior to HT to avoid warps. Being that I only have a 1x30 HF, the finish grinding takes forever due to the extreme-hardness f the steel. I think I will start grinding my bevels much more from now on prior to the HT. At least until I get a better grinder.

I’m curious if you can reuse the foil wrap? Instead of spending the money on wrapping each knife with new foil?

How many degrees and how many minutes did you heat treatment? Why did you put it in ice after cooling?

After this process, does the stainless steel get rust? Or still maintain its anti-rust feature?

Before cooling on a dry ice, do knives need to be completely cooled to room temperature or do they need to be still hot or warm? Thanx.

I’ll just send mine to you and let you throw it in with yours. Lol. I make mine out of free steel, 304-304L. It seems hard enough and holds an edge well.
