Now if Russ didn’t go to the press conference, Stephen A woulda been like “YOU GETTING 47 MILLION DOLLARS!!!! ITS YOUR DUTY AS A SUPERSTAR WHOS GETTING AN EXORBITANT AMOUNT OF MONEY, TO SHOW UP TO SUPPORT YOUR COACH!! WHO THE HELL DOES HE THINK HE IS?!” 😂😂😂😂

They’re are mildly attacking Stephen A on behalf of the players lol

“I know it drives ratings but to what end?” That’s It! Eyeballs are all that matter.

The analysts are expected to be on air for more content than is actually organically generated by the sport, so they invent things to talk about with hot takes, controversial opinions, and combative conversation. No show is more guilty of this than Skip & Shannon, who debate “The GOAT” so much they could fill a farm.

Honestly I'm glad the JJ Reddick and CJ called Steven A out on this one. It was a wild take. What was the point in suggesting he didn't like Westbrook being at the press conference because of the not so secret trade rumours? Russell is just doing his job and being a professional, that absolutely does not warrant him being called out on social media for.

Hell, even if we accept that Steven A. was looking at it from an 'organizational stanpoint' and the message it sends to the league, all we have been hearing about the last few weeks is that the Lakers have been interviewing coaches asking them how they would use Russ. The new coach has a plan that includes Russ, the organization is on board (for now), and Russ was there for his press conference as he should have been.

Tried to see it your way but the players were right. He didn't say the words "I was disappointed" but he looked down in disappointment shaking his head saying "I didn't like it." Then went on to talk about RUSS. JJ kept trying to shoot him bail and CJ was ringing that alarm for him.

People like SAS have been making weird takes for years. Having a couple of people asking him to clarify is not disturbing. SAS has been trying to embarrass people in debate for years. He started the messy. That discomfort you feel is actual debate and it is also the players taking it personal and being very close to the situation and having a long list of points they disagree with takemakers like SAS and maddog. The debate is not over just 1 take. It's over these entire narratives that takemakers try to push as analysis when in essence they are riddled with inaccuracies from the athletes point of view.

Stephen A is the definition of messy! And he's the reason I don't watch first take anymore, the way he used to disrespect Max and talk down on him was outright crazy! And then the way he got him removed feom the show was it for me. Skip & Shannon are NEVER like that.

JJ and now CJ represent the voice of athletes who’ve had enough of Stephen A’s aggressive, unapologetic, and seemingly oftentimes unfair and one sided takes on matters related to athletes on and off of the court, dating back over a decade.

Consequently, they have and will continue to attempt to discredit (oftentimes condescendingly) just about anything he says in hopes to embarrass him publicly as retribution.

Stephen A definitely rambled on that take. especially when the topic was "Can Coach Ham make this work"

I thought that comment by CJ was so weird. Bringing race into it served no positive purpose at all.

Too many players trying to be analysts… too biased

The argumentation stlye is called using an 'Ad Hominem' which is when you don't argue the validity of someone's point, but instead attack a persons character instead. Both JJ and CJ did that; JJ attacked whether or not Stephen A. had an EMOTIONAL reason for his statement and CJ attacked him on basis of Stephen A. not supporting a person on the basis of shared skin pigmentation. In other words JJ called him an abuser and CJ called Stephen A. a Tom.

It ain't like everybody just show up to that table and talk sports, they have meetings with producers to go over everything that's gonna happen, so everything that Stephen A and every guest says, should be taken with a grain of salt

that's exactely what KD is tweeting about. Stephen A Smith is way out of pocket with this and i'm glad that two guys who actually know and understand basketball checked him on that

Doesn’t this make KD have more a valid point when he talks about Stephen A, Skip and Shannon
