See beyond the curtain into the enchanting world of the Kawaii cafes in Japan that mostly have 90% women as their clientele.

It's fun to drink a coffee with your pinky out every once in a while.

Hi. Here to explain the clothing. Those aren't costumes. That is Lolita fashion. It's a fairly popular fashion style and it's origins are in Japanese feminism. Basically the point is that you're allowed to dress fancy and cute all for yourself instead of for someone else. It's seen as a costume by many foreigners, but the style has spread even to other countries. It's a movement based fashion. ^^

Hey, just a quick heads up: The women shown in this video are not wearing costumes! They are in a type of Japanese alternative fashion known as Lolita, and are very against being called cosplays/costumes. Lolita has a rich history with feminist roots, and is very much a fashion, not playing dress-up.
Think of it like dressing up goth, emo, or scene in the west. You wouldn't call them in costume, would you?
(I would also like to add that the girls you called "in costume" are in jirai kei, another type of alt fashion, however, the women at the end of the video are in Lolita)

reminder to not call an outfit a costume if you're not sure whether it's a fashion style or an actual costume 😭

They're not wearing costumes. They're probably part of the EGL community who are looking for restaurants with High Afternoon Tea since it fits their coord.

This was a very annoying video. They aren't wearing costumes. Secondly, when I went to this restaurant I was sitting next to a family, a mother a father and daughter. On my other side there was two elderly men just talking while drinking coffee.

Seriously, I feel like you're just exaggerating what life is like in Japan just to make a clickbait video

As a woman I would feel very relaxed in a restaurant with only women to be honest

As a man living in Japan, I don't care what people think of me, I am going to order the tastiest looking desert on the menu and enjoy every last bite

I feel you did not understand the pourpuse of this restaurant. Its not a "women only" restaurant only, its a restaurant focused on specific fashion subcultures like Jirai Kei and Lolita, thats why youll see people getting weird stares if they are dressed "normal" or men will get weird stares. I doubt that if a man thats is in one of those subcultures and came dressed like so entered they would be faced with a lot of weird stares

Those women go there because it fits their subculture and lifestyle, also, not costume, just clothes youre not familiar with

And boyfriends go with their girlfriends all the time, families also go there, this is just blatant exageration

if men see a women-oriented space and feel uncomfortable then that probably means they should stay out of it. that's just me tho

“Even I feel out of place”

Well girl… you aren’t Japanese, or even Asian. That’s normal to feel out of place. It doesn’t matter if you moved there and have lived there for 20 years, you will always feel out of place for not being the common ethnicity.

But that doesn’t mean you’ll be treated poorly, or maybe it does. lol I’m Asian and not Japanese and it was a blast to be in Korea, China and Japan.

Honestly the vibe makes me feel calm, it's so luxurious. I would hate to go and ruin it for a fine lady though.
