I just wanna say I really appreciate this video, it’s very clear, to the point, not a bunch of rambling, i had 3% battery left, no charger, and I needed help, your video allowed me to get all 4 corners done rotors and pads, it’s a crazy different system and I ended up loving it!

Matthew,
Watching your video is a real gift to me. Metal to metal on one front caliper with grinding noise. There are other tutorials on how the job is done, but none so well done with excellent photography and easy to understand instructions. Thank you for being there for us 240 owners. I have two wagons 88 and 92. All the best from New Rochelle N.Y.

Hi, you are very good mechanic, I need your help. I have 1991 Volvo 240. The alternator tension arm bracket has a problem. The bolt goes from end of bracket to engine block is broke. I do not see where it will go to engine block.. can you help me? Thank you.

Thanks for putting up a video that shows both the Girling and ATE type. Really use to be able to compare straight away/identify which calipers are which.

When you think of replacing the brake pads on the 240, they are easy to do, compared to what a one of the major stores would charge for the same job, plus you save money, plus you get to do it yourself, plus you acquire knowledge.

Always a good idea to put some anti-seize on those caliper pins too. Getting those out and back in is really the hardest part. Easy job that makes your car way more enjoyable to drive.

I just did this on my daughter's '92 240 - easiest faster pad change I've ever done!

22Year Volvo 240 tech. I lubricate the rear pads, and secure the front pads with "Disk Brake quietl". Glue the fronts, and lube the rears.

Haven't done this yet on mine but your video visual took the mystery out of it. Thanks!!

How important are the shims. I just did the front brakes on my 1980 242 and had seen another video where the guy said they weren’t important... they seem to be working great. Love your Volvo vids. Make more!

Did you have to replace the shims also when doing these? I'm doing in a few

which year is this car, my 86 240 DL have vented rotors in the front ?
it's important that the contact of the pad into the caliper be free sliding and lubed with a specific grease

I thought calipers were either Girling brand or ATE, which are very different in design.
