What To Eat In Malmö, Sweden

Thank you to Malmotown for this Paid Collaboration! Even though this video is paid for by Malmö Tourism, they didn’t influence any of the opinions in it. They just brought us on over and gave us free reign to shoot what we pleased. All of the opinions and research here is done on our own. In other words, these places are honestly delicious.

After one week in Malmö, Sweden we relentlessly ate everything we could find, all while asking local foodies and shops about their favourite places to go. From that all, we’ve put together a food guide on what to eat in Malmö, so you can enjoy how gorgeous the city is, and also taste how gorgeous it is...does that sound weird? Don't go around licking lampposts or anything.

A list of all their addresses and Google Maps are below, but first:

I am so glad they sponsored you and gave you the freedom to do what you wanted. Malmo clearly has a very intelligent tourism board. I would go there in a heartbeat.

Ah, you can tell this is close to Denmark... Hygge is Danish, for those who would like to know. Fika, is Swedish and here is how a Swede explains it:

Fika (noun) is that break you take during the day for coffee or a snack during work/after work/with friends/with family/with relatives/as a date etc... to fika (verb) is to take this break with others to generally be social.

And the concoction you need in order to fika is coffee/tea/good bevarage apart from alchohol, something sweet like a cinnamon bun (generally cake or cookie) and another person to fika with. Fika can be done alone, but it's more common to do with others. (I've fika on my own when I'm running errands and need a break, but mostly you will see people fika with others).

Fika is such an important thing you will find it hard to be social in Sweden if you don't know how to do it. Your coworkers will come up to you and say "fika" which translates to: stop your work, let's take a break. Fika is also when most of Sweden solve their internal work related problems, because work is quite often brought up as a topic when you are at work and when you meet your other coworkers, they tend to be able to give advice or help you.

Fika is also important in order to stay close to friends. Everyone knows what fika is, this I've used when I haven't met someone for a while and I can ask them "Shall we fika" and if they have time, I have never heard a no.

Fika is also a very common first date, as it is a social gathering and you get to talk (unlike the cinema).

Fika is also important to swedes, as our parents were brought up with it and our grandparents were brought up with it. As a child it was quite common for me to see my grandparents over a fika.

Fika is also flexible, it can be done at a café (which there are often plenty of in the cities) or at home. Yes, at home. I've often invited friends home for a fika, which means I bake or buy something sweet, brew coffee and get to meet everyone.

If you ever wish to move to Sweden, learn how to fika. We half expect you to, but it's not that hard. Just immensely widespread.

Which btw, Swedish baked goods are among the best in the world. So, if you ever visit us come and fika!

Sincerely
A Swede

Such a gorgeous video! I love how much of your personality was embedded into every part, every scene and of course, every interaction (married couple!). That custard pastry with strawberries looked so *fika-ing* delicious and those cut-scenes of you riding the scooters made me feel as though I was there right behind you. Thank you for the ride xo

Out of curiosity, did the Malmö tourism board reach out to you for the collaboration, or did you reach out to them?
I'm liking the long video format, it really gives a chance to get a good overview of things.

Hold up, did I just see an ice-cream named Brexit Blues?? Is that made of the tears of the British public? I think ice-cream shops here in London could make gallons of this stuff 😭

"I also recommend dipping your camera into the tartar sauce." 😂 you guys have the best banter
I never thought I'd be interested in watching a 30 minute video about Sweden but you guys' personality is so enticing and the amazing camerawork/editing always pulls me in. You really are what youtube was made for.

I love how you try to pronounce the Swedish words. They’re not even close but still hilarious 😂
It always makes me so happy when people come here and have a lovely time. Summer in Sweden sure is a special thing to experience!
