NBA 2K25 Review - The Final Verdict

For all the flak that Visual Concepts' NBA 2K series has received over the years, there's no denying that it's delivered some of the best basketball action. NBA 2K25 may very well be the modern era's best due to its diverse selection of content, excellent presentation, responsive gameplay, and new features.

The City feels more organic than before; the various Eras offer extensive customization and avenues to relive historical moments; and MyCareer feels engaging. Even the on-court action is solid, though the Shot Meter can take some getting used to (some extensive options to customize it do help).

MyTeam isn't as appealing to me, though Breakout is occasionally fun, and some mechanics like blocking feel ineffective. The whole pay-to-win structure also doesn't sit well, which is a tale as old as time with the franchise. Nevertheless, as far as being the ideal basketball title, NBA 2K25 is worth checking out.

MyCareer needs to NOT be integrated with online/The City. Literally the worst move they made for MyCareer. I want to play basketball, not run around from on side of an ugly city to another.

Worst review ever!!! Completely skimmed over the gambling aspects in Myteam. And this isn’t the “go to” choice, it’s the ONLY choice!!! You spent 2 mins on the pay to win aspects and ignored the fact that you’d have to spend either 1, 000 hours or THOUSANDS of dollars in my career or my team to stay competitive and single player content is limited.

There is no way this game is an 8 overall. Complete hack job.

Besides 2019, this is my first nba2k I’ve played. I don’t hate it. I love basketball though. I don’t like the my player mode (mp or wherever). My player lite is the best one for me. You run through an entire season with your favorite team. Simple.

the pay to win is worse every year they reduced all VC rewards from in game quests by half and lots of weekly quests and daily reward just enough VC to get 1 attribute up and they require way to much work to do it

Shooting is the main problem. I’ve went thru every shooting setting and I’m still missing wide open shots with perfect timing due to the fact that there’s no pure green window. 2K labs has confirmed each shot has different timing to try to counter cheating.

2k24 was the first 2k I haven’t had or bought since I was a kid back in 2010 and tbh I liked 23 and they lost me with 24, but 25 seems decent, it feels smooth like a mix of 2k 14-17 with a splash of nba live 19 thrown in, I can’t bitch too much!

How do character models still look so bland? We got metahuman looking characters, while 2K’s characters look like they from the PS3 era

This is a 4-6. Shooting is horrible, reaction time is horrible. Unless your goat skill is active, you can barely make anything, even close open layups
