Jo Koy Shocks Audiences w/ Controversial 2024 Golden Globes Monologue

Jo Koy got the 2024 Golden Globes off to a bit of a bumpy start, going off script as some of his jokes were met with not-so-enthusiastic reactions. The night's host aimed zingers at the year's biggest TV shows and films, including "Oppenheimer" and "Barbie." After a "Barbie" joke fell flat, he told the crowd, "Yo, I got the gig 10 days ago! You want a perfect monologue? Yo, shut up! You're kidding me, right? Slow down – I wrote some of these and they're the ones you're laughing at."

The cringiest part was him getting angry that no one is laughing at his "jokes" and then trying to defend himslef by implying that he didnt even write all of the jokes. Pathetic.

If you are a comedian never complain about your material not being good as it causes the audience to start to scrutinise it more and that causes more jokes to go over their head as they contimplate if the joke was funny or not.

I don't really care about what topics a comedian chooses to joke about as long as the jokes are actually funny. Sadly, these were just not great jokes. It all just felt really awkward and he kept acknowledging the awkwardness ("like I said, I didn't write all of these, " etc.) which just made it worse. Maybe if he'd had more time to prepare it could've gone better, who knows.
