My yellow lab was obsessed with balls. Anything round and ball looking, like a cantaloupe and it was game on! But her sweet and goofy playfulness always brought laughter. She had an exuberance for life that was unmatched. I miss her dearly! RIP Sadie Belle 1999-2014.💕

The energy some of them have is unreal. Like I actually can’t believe how long they can sprint for. Nicest dogs around too.

MY LAB EATS ANYTHING. LITERALLY ANYTHING. Such a handful.

All so true. I loved my Labrador so much, but I would also like to include the amount of hair it shed.

Our first Lab did the rolling in and eating poop thing once or twice. He especially loved horse apples, which can be dangerous for a dog if the horse is on medications. Our current Lab seems to actually grossed out by poop. His ball once landed on a turd while playing, and he refused to pich it up. Just stood there with one paw raised. I had to get it, and rinse it off. 😂

As a non-labrador owner, I'd also like to add that they don't seem to understand dog social cues. I have a greyhound that is pretty patient and polite, but not particularly interested in other dogs.

Most dogs can read the room and leave him alone after a quick hello, but labradors always seem to barrel over, completely oblivious to his multiple "leave me alone, please" signals and get way too up in his space. Lovely dogs, but they are basically just oblivious children that don't realise not everyone wants to play all the time.

Ive had both American and English Labs,
Americans were the troublesome ones and my English labs have been more chilled out.

I wonder if thats just my personal experience or if anyone else ever noticed a difference

*Troublesome fun.. they were wonderful dogs!!!

My black lab is obsessed with balls and lights and shadows. Sometimes I feel she's a cat

Haha, you hit the nail on the head, my mum has had about 20 retrievers, Chesapeake's, Labrador's, she loves them, i bought her one as a get well gift and I've been exercising him, i have lost half a stone in walking him miles and miles and he still has to have his play, they're wonderful animals, but god they're demanding at times 😂

I would have added to this list is their obsession with food. My Lab can't get enough

The merging into “stuff” is common for most hunting dogs, they try to disguise themselves. My Golden does this, so does my moms Dachshound.

My English Lab loves sticks and anything resembling them.
It’s insane.

My yellow lab is 19 months old. So far the only thing he rolls in is mud and water. He grabbed a mouthful of horse turds but spit it out. Hope it keeps up like this.

Think it depends on the strain. Current one is a mad hatter. Hyper hyper active. The first was as expected and the second was calmer than a Rastafarian on a Sunday. Pick carefully.

I can’t tell you the disgusting thing Mavis has been into! Disgusting.
Sometimes the Velcro action can be a bit too much.
Hair: there are times in the year the quantity of hair on the floor board is thick enough to form a rug in spots.
However given this, I would never not have my girl. She will hike all day long! She is the best companion and I swear she knows how I am feeling.

Well mine must be the complete exception to the rule…..mine doesn’t eat or roll in crap…..and is of working line, and he is is one of the most chilled out dogs I know 🤷‍♂️
