After watching the LPL for years, this safe is on par with the mid security options you can buy on the open market

Many years ago I saw an article in Wood magazine on this safe. I build 6 I think for nieces & nephews out of oak with box joints. I used Letters instead of numbers on the tumblers. Using their initials for the combination made for a fun game to see who would figure out the combination 1st.

As someone who does both wood and metal working this would be an interesting project to make out of aluminum and steel and would actually provide a moderate degree of security.

Presumably if you made the handle pin removable and just produced extra cylinders with different combos it should be possible for a kid to remove the bolt and change the combo if they wanted. I think it was one of my dad's uncles but one of my family members made my bother and I personalized wooden boxes when we were born and something like this would be a really fun way to do that.
