Leavenworth used to be a logging, mining, and ranching town. When this started to decline they pimped the place as a "Bavarian" village.

No, Leavenworth does not do tourism well at all. No, parking, hard to get health care, intrusion into residential neighborhoods, no rentals to be had....they are all short term rentals now. If you find a house, it will be nextdoor to short term rentals on both sides. Traffic is a nightmare EVERY Day. Grocery shopping is limited, shelves are bare most of the time. There are low income jobs but no housing or parking if you take one. It is currently 105• at my leavenworth house in july and the wildfire smoke is rolling in.

I used to enjoy stopping in Leavenworth. Last time I was there absolutely no parking anywhere vehicles circling. I was extremely relieved to see it in my rear view mirror. I’ll check back sometime to give it a second chance. It’s been two years and the feeling is still fresh in my mind. I do have lots of good memories from the area.

Leavenworth is a horrible tourist trap. Driving through it (only because we have no other choice in the winter) makes me nauseous. The tourists have no idea how to drive or much less how to follow the basic pedestrian rules. Whoever would consider buying there needs there head examined. What a horrible choice

Stay at the Enzian. Breakfast will fill you up for the day. Restaurant right by the bank serves American food. There’s a good Braut restaurant right off Main Street, outdoor seating. Ground level. Can’t remember the name. Bakery in town has good giant pretzels and delicious cream puffs. Plenty of parking at the Enzian. Nice walk to downtown. It’s the only place to stay in Leavenworth. Nice indoor pool and hot tub. Nice outdoor pool and hot tub, too.

It's like that in all tourist areas in the world. The locals appreciate the tourists because of the business they bring in, but that's where it stops. Good video.

I visited Leavenworth once. While passing through the area. I can't think of a tourist trap town anywhere on the planet that I hated more than this place. It was awful! The people there were as cold as the weather. The town is some sort of fake European facade with everything ridiculously overpriced. The town tries, and fails miserably, to create some sort of Octoberfest vibe that would be comical if it wasn't so pathetic. That area of Washington State has some very interesting and fun towns to visit and enjoy. Leavenworth absolutely is not one of them.

I was with a band that performed there. A prearranged event that paid us to perform. The town reminded me of living in a harsh HOA. A local business owner riding around in a golf cart drove up and told us that our music wasn't "Bavarian" enough and that we weren't invited back. In front of a crowd of people. It was awkward and cringeworthy. We had a good crowd that was enjoying the show.

Me and my partner have been discussing relocating and starting over essentially, One of the places in mind is Leavenworth's WA. The idea of my partner working at the pet lodge and myself finding tree work or a horticulturist job is huge for us. But after a little bit of research it seems tourism has drove the small town mad. I would love to relocate here but I feel as if id only add to the tourism, essentially not accepted.

“A vast variety of dining options”, that is not quite accurate. As a local you quickly realize that the only dining options are just focused on pub grub, American cuisine and German cuisine. If you like other options this will be a major disappointment.

At 3:53 where is that in Leavenworth I was born and raised here and I don't recognize that part of town also tourism is only gonna get worse in Leavenworth no parking and all those shops n all those drunk tourists just ruins it for me n the hospital in town is a scam just drive to Central in Wenatchee to save ya at least the cost of an ambulance

I was borne and raised here my uncle owned the Norris hardware and apartments and clothing store the from 1975 when he worked as a employee than took over when his father in law passed they sold it decades later Raymond baker past now. I know all the dark secrets😂. Every teenager hated living here btw we all left
