1. Create renders more frequently: min. 5 renders per week
2. Ask for feedback as much as possible
3. Build your portfolio

(I did all these things in Year 1)

When you finally know what to do, go for quality.

4. Create renders only when you have to
5. Keep up with technology
6. Focus on getting income from your skill

Remember: Rendering improvement comes in stages.
