The only thing Ant likes about David Lynch is his last name.

this is the film equivalent to saying jazz is bad because it doesn't have a pop song structure.

A 60 year old alcoholic doesn't get art films? Color me shocked

Blue Velvet is absolutely badass. Dennis Hopper was an animal! Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive are fairly twisted too. Lynch is a unique director and the reason he kept making the type of movies he made is because that’s the type of movie he wanted to make and he didn’t give a fuck about whatever was so-called “popular”. In other words, he didn’t sell out. It’s called integrity and that’s what’s most admirable about him. Would like to see more of it these days.

What Anthony is saying is that only eye talians know how to make good anything.

Mulholland Drive is a masterpiece, actually. Disagree. Just because you may not get his films on first viewing, doesn’t mean you should give up trying. Once you see the meaning—it really is beautiful and meaningful. Not to sound overly pretentious because I can’t stand those types of people either

Anthony is a limited "Gamer"...What do you expect? He has no idea who Fellini or Bergman are either. LOL

Dude, there are several things in Twin Peaks: The Return that are the most staggering moments in my viewing lifetime and I’ve seen a lot of stuff. Not for or a lot of people but it’s stupid to think a lot of OTHER don’t or, like, shouldn’t see the value in it

Bah! Twin Peaks is great. One of the best. Lynch’s music is pretty rad too. Guys just an artist. His movies are in their own genre.

“Figuring out what consumers want”: kinda says it all about this guy.

Frank Booth needs to take Anthony over to Ben's.

Sam Raimi would beg to differ? He took a horror movie concept when he was a film student and managed to make it into a horror franchise that has made hundreds of millions of dollars worldwide and continues to make more and more with no end in sight. That movie BTW is Evil Dead. Classic

I like David Lynch even though I don't understand them but I don't mind at all Anthony saying this. I think of them like a dream.

I love how this guy unabashedly exclaims to the world that he is a moron. Good stuff.

I have to get them explained to me sometimes but my take on them is usually close. Mulholland drive.. halfway thru the film the real personalities and actions shine through and it shows how these people are two facets/faces of a dream in the first half the reality in the second half.

His movies hold my interest, but I keep waiting for an explanation at the end which never comes.

Most his movies are amazing. Just have to actually watch a film and put down your cell phone

I appreciate Lynches style since its inspired alot of TV and video games moving forward.

As far as "style" is concerned, i dont think people appreciate that as much in film, they want a "realistic" or "naturalistic" narrative, and thats why everything is so formulaic now. The esoteric stuff is handwaved as artsy, but it oozes in style that inspires the themes and images of art for decades after its time.

P.s I think about twin peaks like the sopranos: its a genre parody that gets to have its cake and eat it too. Make fun of a genre will induldging in its pastiche. Its a sleight of hand that easily impresses people.

does art really need to be "understood"? Most of his movies are psychological horrors, if you don't like the "genre" that's fine, you just won't get it. Other people who like it will probably get it. Whatever
