I just thought of something, about how all the gems all seem to have two powers, a weapon and an ability, for example, Pearl has the ability to display hologramic images and her weapon is a spear, and Amethyst has the ability to shape-shift and the her weapon is a whip, it makes me think what was Ruby and Sapphire's weapon and ability on their own, we could say each had an individual glove, but weapons are more of fused versions of their past weapon, like Opal's bow, the whip is the string on the bow and the spear is the arrow, and with Sugilite where it's more obvious for her flail, the hand is ball and the whip is the chain. But what must've been Ruby's ability as being psychic might've been Sapphire's ability? Sure, they are a couple meaning they are pretty much one being, but that doesn't rule out that they had individual lives and weapons and abilities before they fused.
