Steve Howe from PROG Legends ‘YES’ talks to Phil Aston for The Now Spinning Magazine Podcast about his new solo album 'GuitarScape'

Guitarscape marks a new chapter for the YES and ASIA legend as he presents, what amounts to, a guitar masterclass. “What I’m doing,” said Steve, “is focusing on what I do well and what I love to do.” Guitarscape features 14 new instrumental tracks in a host of musical styles, from rock through to acoustic and classical, each bearing that unmistakable Steve Howe sound. Steve plays acoustic, electric, steel and bass guitars along with keyboards and is joined by his son Dylan on drums. Steve has written all of the tracks and produced the album.

Hi Phil - great interview. What I would love to know from these great guitarists, is the effect of age on their playing. I am an acoustic fingerpicker - well, try to be anyway lolol, but at 74 my hands are not what they use to be. Do these guys, find they cant play the same chords they use to in their youth, or find holding down these chords more difficult? Or they cant play at the same speed they use to - and other issues guitarists of their stature have to deal with as they age. Would love to know. Cya on the next one. Cheers Doug

Shock horror! Prog rocker does short tracks! Yes it can be good not to add things just to lengthen the tune as proved on Yes tunes like Time and a Word and wonderous stories. Love Steve's playing and look forward to hearing this.
