My 2025 Oscar predictions dive into the competitive Best Picture, Director, and Acting categories as awards season heats up! In Best Picture, I break down the top contenders among 20 impressive films, including Dune Part Two, The Brutalist, Emilia Perez, Conclave, and Gladiator 2. Five of these films feel locked in, while another five are fighting for the remaining nominations.

For Best Director, I explore the likely nominees, including Brady Corbet (The Brutalist), Sean Baker (Anora), and Denis Villeneuve (Dune Part Two). With four slots feeling secure, the final nomination is up for grabs, making this category especially exciting.

In the Best Actress race, top contenders like Demi Moore (The Substance) and Saoirse Ronan (The Outrun) compete for two open spots in a competitive lineup. Best Actor is also intense, with 10 strong performances from Adrien Brody (The Brutalist), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), and more.

Join me as I assess the frontrunners and discuss what makes this year’s Oscar race so compelling.

If Demi Moore doesn’t at least get nominated, I’ll never watch the Oscars again 😬

The Substance is the #10 in BP you're looking for. It's dominating the conversation right now and has struck a chord with the industry. I would never have guessed that just from the film itself, but the way it has captured the zeitgeist in recent weeks has truly been a wake-up call for me. This movie is cementing itself as a much stronger awards player than most are still giving it credit for, due to the 'genre' barrier—which, in this case, it has already completely transcended. So look no further. Great video btw. It’s hard to find good awards commentary like this on newer, smaller channels. Already subscribed!

You must not be following the Maria campaign because Jolie has attended multiple AMPAS and SAG Q&A screenings for it over the last three weeks and has gotten standing ovations for all of them. Also I’ve read so many Maria reviews that say Jolie’s performance is the best is the Pablo trilogy. A foreign actress and an up and coming actress isn’t going to have more Hollywood support than an actress who has been a movie star and Oscar winner for 25 years. Jolie and Nicole Kidman have the industry connections. If we are talking about critics awards, then I can see Karla and Mikey dominating those awards all season. But if we are talking about the industry member awards, then I see the longtime peers supporting their longtime peers.

Jolie is set to win Best Actress, sweeping the Globe (Drama), SAG, and Oscar. Madison, on the other hand, will likely stay as a critics' favorite. The Brutalist is taking Best Picture and Director—there’s really no reason for the Academy to pick Anora for Best Picture
