Wolfenstein 3D (PC) Ep. 1, Floor 1

A quick, complete walkthrough of Wolfenstein 3D's iconic first level on "I Am Death Incarnate" difficulty with 100% kills, secrets, and treasures.

This was captured directly from Steam's DOSBox-powered version of Wolfenstein 3D following a couple minor tweaks to its configuration file. In this walkthrough, I'm also controlling the game with a mouse rather than keyboard.

No problem! The best parts -- or levels -- of Doom 2, at least in my opinion, are as follows:
- Tricks and Traps (Neat design. Each door leads to a new "trap" or experience.)
- 'O' of Destruction (Excellent map from John Romero.)
- Gotcha! (Two of the game's iconic mega-bosses can potentially square off only in this level.)
- Barrels o' Fun (Barrels, barrels, and more barrels. What isn't there to love?)
- The Spirit World (A bizarre, Hellish level.)
- The Living End (A great pre-finale.)

@rebirthangel Yeah the emulation is great. The credit actually goes to DOSBox and its creators, though, which allows it to be emulated in a DOS environment just like back in the old days. What sucked about the Xbox Live Arcade version of Wolf3D? I don't think I've ever played it before.

Also, are you playing the Doom games with a source port like Skulltag or GZDoom? If not, you should look into it. Those allow you to crank up the resolution even to the highest ones available today, enable complete mouselook, enable jumping and crouching, rebind your keys to the WASD layout used by every game today, and so forth. Once you play Doom that way, it's very tough to go back. It looks and plays much better than the DOS/DOSBox versions, with all due respect to the classic format.

Did you get the id pack? The value for that is incredible! I think I'll just buy it for Rage since I have most of the games already. Great to see that people still play the game that started it all, by the way.

I don't know if you're aware of it, but there's a pretty recent port for Wolf3D called ECWolf which is really good. Main improvement is about the FPS, but also high resolutions, set strafe keys and other. Unlike New Wolf, you can finish the game (with endings and all) without any problem. :)

If you go to Wolfenstein dotcom, there's a free browser-based version that includes the first three episodes!

Thanks man, I needed to know if Wolfenstein 3d was censored on steam.

If you're at all into level (or even game) design, you should check out my many tutorials on creating levels for Doom and Doom 2. It really allows you to break away from the old stuff and create your very own material. Of course there's plenty stuff others have made, too. Try checking out some of my Doom projects (Demon Defense, RTS Doom, and Call of Dooty especially) to get a good idea of what you can do with the latest tools and source ports.

The only time I played through Doom 3 was back in 2004 when it first launched. I was never a big fan. The Hell segments were the only ones that really impressed me.

@MAZZEKAARTS Nah, I just grabbed Wolfenstein 3D by itself since they marked it down a few bucks. I haven't owned a copy since way back in the early-to-mid 90s on my old Packard Bell computer. It's been forever since I played it!

I watched this while some 8-bit music conveniently played on the background.

I downloaded this with my copy of Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
I completed the game along time ago and never played it again... until now ;D

Sorry, I'm not quite sure what you're asking. Are you playing Doom 2 for the first time and asking which parts of the game to look forward to?

Is it bad to mention I have access to the floppies(which are safely stashed away), full version, let alone installed on my antique 486/convert to a P1 lol.
