Wolfenstein 3D - Episode 1: Escape from Wolfenstein - E1M1 (1995) [3DO]

Because the 3DO port of Wolfenstein 3D was developed by the same company as the Macintosh port, the two games are nearly identical. They both feature higher resolution graphics, an in-game map, more weapons, and superior audio. However, unlike the original DOS version, the 3DO lacks rotating sprites, so enemies are always looking at you, making it impossible to sneak up on them--a feature that was sorely missed. Also, the game takes less time to beat due shorter and fewer maps. The story remains the same. You play a WWII P.O.W. trying to escape from an underground Nazi prison. You shoot Nazis in a first-person perspective; collect treasure, ammo, health; find secret doors to help you escape.

Looks so shiny and cool. I know there was a version that someone made that combines the Dos and Mac versions to have some extra flair, has anyone ever incorporated the 3DO style as a mod into the OG Dos version? OR is this port a port of the Mac version?

This is a good port of the classic WW2 shooter.
Far better than Doom on 3DO, which was done by the same person who did this game's port

Some of the changes are cool, but there's really limited variation in BJ's face as his health decreases. And apparently no screen effect when you're shot, that would be missed.
And did they need to have the dog sound so sad and pathetic when killed? Lol

Original version of this game for DOS is more better. Sounds and music are better too. It's more atmospherical.

I love the new visual elements, from the Mac ver, for the sake of novelty but they could have been made much better IMO. The pistol's idle frame looks like it should be frame 2 or 3 of a proper firing animation.
