Building industry workers say drastic changes needed at city department after bribery charges

Three city workers accused of accepting bribes to speed up the permitting process made their first appearance in federal court on Wednesday, March 15.

We’ve submitted our plans and DPP keeps kicking back our permit because it’s not a certain way. We fix the issue and they say we need to fix something else. There’s no help by the DPP. We are just regular home owners. Trying to complete a permit process is complicated. They need to make it easier to fill out the permit. And it should take months to get approval for such a simple add on.

My permit for a storage shed has been sitting for 9 months and I paid a fee to expedite it.. looks like the ‘expidite fee’ of $1000 cash was pocketed. No word back from DPP. Fire them all. Farm out the whole DPP operation to a facility that can handle it.
