Raw Talent Doesnt Create World Class Performers - Lessons from the Life of Usain Bolt

Lesson
======================================================

You can’t be a world-class performer only with raw talent. You have to be willing to listen, learn from others, and relentless pursuit to understand your mistakes.

In a World Championship 200 meters final race, Bolt was contesting with speed star Tyson Gay.  Bolt was so confident in winning the race with his raw talent and speed.  The race started and Bolt was ahead for more than 75 meters. But suddenly, Tyson flew past bolt in the turn surprising bolt. Bolt couldn’t catch up and lost the race.Bolt was so confused how Tyson suddenly overtook him in the turn. He kept thinking about it. Since it was continuously troubling him, he went to see coach at 2am in the morning to find out what happened.

Coach said you care not strong enough and you need to work a lot in the gym. If you were strong enough, you could have had the turn with strong speed like Tyson did. Then bolt realized that only his speed can’t win races. He started working to get stronger.

In life, we might have certain skills from birth and certain talents developed with practice. But talent itself is not enough to be Word-Class.

We have to learn from others, use strategies and plans to become the best. Be willing to listen and willing to understand and learn from mistakes is key to becoming world class.
