SpaceX Naked Starship Weird Design, unlike others...

Starship", is definitely a name that is very familiar to all of us. However, it should be noted that Starship is a system, and potentially a family, of vehicles – you could even call it the Starship Launch System, or SLS, reflecting its versatility and adaptability to various missions and objectives.
For the first orbital flight, SpaceX introduced a prototype of the crewed version. One of the flights planned for this year will be another variant, a naked Starship.
So, how will this Starship work?
Find out everything about this in today's episode of Alpha Tech:
SpaceX is now prepping its next Starships vehicle for upcoming flights.
Recently, the company conducted an engine test at its Starbase site in South Texas with Ship 25, the upper-stage prototype that will fly the next Starship test mission.
"Ship 25 completed a flight-like chill and spin of the Raptor engine pumps, stopping just before engine ignition. As a result of the test, cryogenic liquid oxygen formed a visible cloud beneath the ship. This checked out vital systems in advance of the upcoming static fire," SpaceX wrote in a Twitter post-Thursday (June 22) that included an awesome photo of the test.

6:34 "Just like a futuristic spaceship should" xDD - Too good!

I think it's just going to be a cheaper stripped down version of Star Ship used during the next orbital testing. It's unremarkable because the goal is using the booster and stripped down star ship to reach orbit with the minimal amount of cost risk.

As for the last idea presented, boosting a mars bound payload and returning quickly. It could be a mixture of both mars bound starships and mars bound cargo missions for starship. As you correctly said, it will be a family of ships, each with different purposes.

There are so many reasons to have a naked version of Starship. Any Starship that has no intention of reentering the atmosphere of Earth can be a naked Starship. That includes the Orbital Fuel Depot, the Lunar Starship, and any kind of cis-lunar shuttle version. Once the Starship System gets up and running, I foresee several different models for use in cis-lunar space. We will need a real serious infrastructure to support lunar surface operations and bases.
Also, I feel like SpaceX needs to get realistic about what kind of Starship will be man-rated for launch of astronauts and passengers from Earth and fully able to bring them back home in an emergency. There needs to be totally separate versions for Cargo, Tanker, Tanker Depot, cis-lunar transport, Human Lunar lander, and Interplanetary Mars Transport.
The man-rated, astronaut ONLY version of Starship will need to sacrifice payload for redundant human safety systems. We need escape capsules capable of reentering Earth's atmosphere and landing during ALL phases of launch and orbital insertion. (NO "deadman" blackout zones where no recovery is possible.) Whether that will take the form of individual capsules similar to the B-58 bomber capsules for their crew or one big section of the Starship that can separate from the huge fuel tanks and come down by parachute is up to the engineers. But until such a version is created, I see no possible way for NASA to sign off on astronauts going to orbit on Starship, or passengers wanting to go on the "Orient Express" version of ballistic intra-Earth transport.

26 and 27 are probably for fuel transfer test. May use Raptor3 engines.

Hi alpha tech for a nother video of star ship on how they are doing David 🚀👌🇬🇧❤️👍

I think for the bare starship it's either going to open it's nose cone to release cargo or it's going to be used for refueling.

I believe the proper way to refuel is a orbit nose to nose.
That’s the smartest easiest method… you’re already familiar and knowledgeable for this type of docking maneuver.
Possibly SpaceX doesn’t want to divulge this information to competition? 😮

S26 is going to be the prototype refuelling tanker, as it will just be in high storage orbit, probably either at a legrange point or orbit round the moon

Nothing really new in this video, but you did touch on a small problem and it's a big one. Time to Mars. I'd love to see an honest video on the likelihood or probability of spaced working on nuclear propulsion. I've seen videos claiming that's the case, but, in the end, I can't escape the fact this is the internet. You can't believe everything you hear. You guys give facts, so if I heard it from this channel i'd be a bit more excited about the prospect. 👍

If they use 26 and 27 for fuel transfer testing, hopefully they can use them for something else later on in space such as segments of a space station.

I was thinking about a flapless design, by using manoeuvrable weights inside the rockets structure. Possibly also useful for a hypersonic missile design.

You only need a set of orbital boosters from an orbital craft where passengers embark on an eco-sphere. The boosters set speed and trajectory then return to home orbit to refuel for next launch. Whether it's the moon or mars the Eco-sphere capsule enters an orbit of the destination and shuttles are used between land and orbit. Boosters and eco-sphere adjust in size to fit traffic needs. Send a thousand people at a time in an eco-sphere and reuse the boosters again without ever having to land them first. The Falcon heavy rocket is already a certified rocket. This means you could put a large number of people in orbit around Mars or the moon before you ever land there. There's not much engineering left in comparison to start populating space.

ship 26 is for moonlanding and first moonbase. or just for eath testing

The answer seems simple enough. SpaceX already has a $53M contract with NASA to perform a propellant transfer refueling demonstration using the Starship. This was a benefit to SpaceX as well as the government as SpaceX was going to have to do the testing anyhow. Although this particular contract involves the first direct funding from NASA – it is meant to help SpaceX from the standpoint of the “tipping point” agreements and is a continuation of their ongoing relationship. I suspect there are also refueling military applications at work as well. There are also other companies like "Orbit Fab" who are interested in making refueling centers in space and SpaceX could be interested in working with them too. Of course, the Tesla recharging technology (connector) is fast becoming the standard and SpaceX may just want to takeover another market share, this time in space:-)

I think this is a prototype thats not meant for flight.
Maybe they are done testing the tiles and it makes no sense spending the money, same with the fins.

How big are the flaps on a Mars lander?

Star-Ship 26 is a test tanker depot for orbiting fueling. A Human Mars and return will need to be a space station with gravity

Man putting those tiles on has to be a tedious job
