Literally my favorite scene in the game. It shook Kratos and Freya to learn it wasn’t prophecy or a grand design that was screwing them over. No destiny. It was just them. You can fight destiny. It’s harder to fight yourself.

I really like how they portrayed the Norns.
"We cannot see the future, there is no divine destiny. We just know you. That's how we know what you will do in the future."

I love how this scene also shows the ultimate answer to Odin's biggest problem that he could never face. Odin was so obsessed with controlling his destiny that he took the entire world hostage and slaughtered thousands just to do it. Yet, the Norns reveal here that the only real way to change your "fate" is to change who you are as a person and it's only you never changing that makes your destiny clear. Of course, Odin probably heard this message long before our heroes and was like "Fuck that, you guys just haven't tried to change your fate hard enough!"

1 speaks in 3rd person
2 speaks in 1st person
3 speaks in quotes
Genius.

"He still slays gods, but now he's sad about it?" might be the best line in the whole game. Not just a dig at Kratos, but at the revitilization of the series as a whole compared to what it initially was. In a scene that's already playing with the ideas of protagonists and scripts, this is a direct toss to the audience itself and what players have come to look for from the series.

“You are the sum of your choices, nothing more”
That line is so powerful

I love just how when the line 'kratos holds his grunt...' he grunts to prove that fate has no hold on him only for it to backfire because the script wasn't even finished.

The raw creativity in this game is mindblowing. This scene had no right to be this good

This scene was so badass. 4:21-4:34 gave me chills. Old Kratos awoke in there for a second. Heimdalls fucked!

I kind of like how they wrote the Norns. It's not like it's all magic. They use their choices, past, and their nature to predict or to know what will happen in the future. It's great stuff.

Urð - "You will die, Kratos of sparta."
(silence)
Kratos - "Death can have me, when it earns me."

The "shut up" being copied is just awesome, especially with how speechless Freya is left after that.

"And because you kill gods"
How casually she says this makes this line so fucking funny, like it's just something he does as a passtime. Guess that's just how people react when you slaughter an entire pantheon

People talking about how they're lucky they didn't finish like the Fates but I feel like the Norns know very well what happened to the Fates, yet kept annoying Kratos because they know that he has changed and that he wouldn't do anything about it this time.

From what I’ve seen here:

Urd (past) seems to be the best here: capable of using anyone’s past to guess the ending.

Verdande (present) are considerably the weakest here, but still capable of predicting what’s going on and what’s happening soon

Skuld (future) imo is the most intriguing one: capable of guessing conversations to the point of perfection within seconds.

Now that’s just both intriguing and terrifying to me right now

4:49 is such a good scene . I never seen a group of super powered people so shook . They came in there for answers and they were lectured and ridiculed and laughed out and got their answers just not what they wanted to hear yet they already knew

This scene is truly powerful. There are no destiny, no prophecy, no fate, only choices you make. And norns make their "prophecies" based on the predictability of the person. Ragnarok was inevitable because Odin never changed even in his last moment. Freya lost her son because she never learned to let go.

“He still slays gods but now he’s sad about it?” What a good meta joke.

I love how it felt like they were breaking the fourth wall.
