Today we're comparing two queens. I only wish I could have gone more in-depth into what makes both of these brands great.

Once more, thanks to alexbabs12345 for uploading the Bratz commercials in great quality! Go show them some love.

i wished bratz would use their 2d animations that are usually shown in their ads, in more than just their ads. the art work is too iconic and pretty to limit it

I think Mattel became the weaker competitor when they started to adopt ideas from the Bratz. Bratz dolls were not only about urban club outfits. Myscene seemed to struggle with creativity for a minute bc they were inspired by Bratz without understanding the full vision .They had a good thing going with their high Fashion Girl/NYC girl aesthetic . I personally love Myscene dolls and still do. They seem like a perfect medium between Barbie and Bratz dolls. I've always loved their stylized appearance and in depth persona's. Although Bratz has so much and range and was more inclusive.

I’m definitely a Bratz guy to the core but the my scene theme song lives in my head rent free at all times and I always really liked them and had fond memories of them, like I never grew up thinking eww wanna be Bratz it’s very much an oh boy two cakes moment

I'm definitely a MyScene girl, as I found the characters to be more relatable. I was a huge fan of the webisodes and I thought the dolls were absolutely stunning! However, even as a child, I could see the impact that the Bratz had on the doll/toy industry and so I have respect for both.

The My Scene website was an early internet glory and I spent hours and hours on it as a tween. But I never owned an actual My Scene Doll - it just wasn't a socially acceptable thing for an 11/ 12 year old in my school and I feel super sad about that.

for bratz personalities i thought it was always
yasmin: the smart one that always gets them out of situations, mom friend
cloe: the one that panics easily, drama queen (bc sasha always called her that) n overachiever
jade: the sarcastic one who wanted to b a designer
sasha: the firey, confident one who loved music

I think that the bratz were kept with less personality for the play aspect, I definitely liked this as a child because I would create my own worlds andand characters with ambiguous lives and loved to mix and match

You should definitely do a video on Barbie circa 2003-2005, those years were really good for the line and really focused on bringing more detailed and fashionable pieces to play line, something we hadn’t really seen since 1999!

Growing up, my mom was always very critical of fashion dolls (I was very sheltered and my mother thought they were "vain" and "promoted bad moral values") and I was always discouraged from enjoying toys like this.
I've found myself, as adult, realizing that a lot of these dolls were super cool and I've since started to gravitate towards them in ways that I was never able to enjoy as a kid, so... discovering your channel to learn about them has been a huge joy!
Thank you for making content like this!

This video is awesome! As a long time Barbie and Bratz fan/collector I crave content like this. Videos about Bratz that aren’t “Y2K” fashion or makeup challenge. But real content about Bratz dolls and how they changed the doll industry 💖💖💖 You’re doing a great job!

Great video!

I'm definitely a MyScene boy at heart. When Bratz came out it was such an outstanding moment at the time because there were not fashion-forward dolls with such an innovative proposal as Bratz. We all loved the high-end fashions, very elaborated and glam makeup, trendy hairdos of that time that Barbie wasn't giving us.

When MyScene came out everyone thought the same: They were copying Bratz with the characteristics of a large head, big expressive eyes, glam makeup, large lips, large feet, and stylish cheekbones. The MyScene fashions were also high-end with an urban modern look that was very inn of its time and Barbie did a great job by giving us something very different from past decades.

I agree that in the beginning, the Bratz girls did not have a signature and singular fashion style to identify each character but through the years MGA noticed that and did it successfully.
The good points on the Bratz doll lineup it was the diversity of each character and the representation of different people, and the low point of it is that there were not developing the background stories of the girls.

On the other hand, MyScene did a great job by developing a deep back story for each character to make them feel more relatable to the kids through the tv ads, merchandising, and of course, the website. Although the graphics were very basic, the website was so much fun to spend hours playing there.

Nowadays Bratz did an impact on culture and they're still a world phenomenon and they remain relevant.

If I remember Barbie was Replaced with Kennedy as a result of a settlement with one of the MGA lawsuits

This made me remember how I played my scene flashgames ALL THE TIME as a kid. I never even had the dolls or honestly knew what the doll line was until recently. Now I finally know why I recognize the art style so vividly.

I'd love to see you cover the Fashion Fever days or talk about the short life of Novi Stars.

I wasn't big into dolls growing up. But I was given a Yasmine doll when the Bratz came out. And she's been my girl ever since.

An iconic My Scene line you definitely forgot:
💎Super Bling💎

I also think both brands have their positives and negatives, personally I prefer My Scene though.

great video! I do have to disagree about Bratz not having characteristics & peronalities to the extent of the main 4 of course. the secondary characters were definitely more just dolls. straight from the first release we know that Yasmin is a bohemian earth girl, Cloe is the girl next door, Sasha is into music specifically hip hop & Jade is into making her own clothes. In the digital media those personalities are expanded of course making Yasmin a writer & animal activist, Cloe was sporty & studious, Sasha was into making music and Jade wanted to be a fashion designer and they all shared a passion 4 fashion. As a kid none of them really represented my ethnicity perfectly so i always identified with Sasha for her love for hip hop and music :) I do agree that both Bratz and My Scene ended up with dolls that looked similar and less personal however i think Bratz also did a good job with showing the girls personal styles in the earlier years like Slumber Party, First Edition & Xpress It!
