Unfortunately, this channel is getting more and more subscribers. What, are you people not listening? Do not subscribe to this channel. If you do subscribe you're simply diluting the exclusivity and specialness that our host is going for.

Ya boi, giving everyone anxiety by flipping around a massive lens.

Seriously man, you're one of the best creatives making videos on YouTube. The other popular and well known people don't hold a candle to you. You're actually out making work and also pumping out YouTube videos with a positive message.

If there was ever a channel that I wished did more vlogging it’s ELM. Love this guy, he’s just so darn tootin interesting to watch. And he explains things like he’s my 5th grade science teacher. Love it.

I'm a photographer, and I wish I can explain to and teach others in my industry the way you can teach other filmmakers. If only us photographers were as open and caring as you are, my field would be easier to work in.

Your videos remind me of “Bill Nye The Science Guy” that I was watching so religiously as a teen in the 90s. Same kind of half-wacky, half-serious-scientific approach. I’m having periodic episodes of hysterical laughter because of your hilarious sarcastic sense of humour. Long live to your channel, Thomas (even though I know HATE subscriptions). - Charles (from Canada-not-Arizona 🇨🇦 🇺🇸)

YT just recommended this video. I appreciate the reminder to use my long lenses once in a while. It automatically sent me to Jamie Windsor who had a similar video.

"But here I am in the armpit of the world."
As an Arizonan I can attest to how true this is. Also I really loved the pontificating that happened in this video. *Chefs Kiss*

Was normally not a big fan of tele lens .. but will surely shoot and experiment more with it after watching this video.

I guess you know it but the compression isn't caused by the lens itself but by the camera's distance to the object. The face wouldn't distort on a 24 mm if you were standing away the same amount as when using the 600 mm. Nonetheless the bokeh REALLY depends on the focal length.

But it was a good video🙌🏿

The weight of those intense shots! The music and the slo-mo made that super intense. You forget that it's just some dude walking around lol.

Man, that panning shot of the mountains as it accelerates with the pitch of the music... God Damn! It felt like cinema where as most YT even when they are using nice equipment and decent technique doesn't just hit you in the gut like that. Also, this is just shot from the top of a hill in AZ suburbs. You didn't fly out for the weekend and have to make 3 travel vlogs about it. It was just smart usage of tools, an artist's eye and probably a cinematographer's vernacular. It didn't just look good, it made me feel something, like I do in a film.

Great commentary. I agree that telephoto lenses have a lot of storytelling power. For instance, filming a lone character with a telephoto lens, it can suggest that they are alone in the world. If you're filming two people talking with a telephoto lens, it can suggest that you're watching a very private (secret) conversation. Glad I'm a subscribed film maker.
