Sakamoto Railway started operating in 1927! It is the longest cable car railway in Japan and takes 11 minutes to get from Sakamoto Station to base Sakamoto station.

The route we took was to visit Mount Hiei and work our way backwards. We visited the temples around Enryaku then walked towards the Sakamoto station.

More about Mount Hiei-
This is one of the most significant sacred places for Buddhism in Japan,
and was opened by Saicho, the founder of the Tendai School.
The temple here on Mt. Hieizan is well-known as the headquarters of the Tendai School.
About seven-minute walk from Cable Enryaku-ji Station will take you to the Konpon-chudo Hall, the central building of Hieizan Enryaku-ji Temple.

**Do check before you visit as the cablecar /ropeway might not be operational during the winter months.

I am in my 30s and my channel is all about finding good food, cafes, coffee when i travel. I love all things from cheap eats to a little luxury in life.

I believe that a good life is celebrating a little extravagance and a whole lot of practicality.

I upload every other day, do subscribe for more videos if you are someone like me, someone who enjoys what life brings from cheap eats to luxury splurges from time to time.

Let's grow together and enjoy the good life we have been given.

One of the best day trips I’ve ever taken from Kyoto. We took the bus, train, cable car and ropeway. What a day it was! 🎉

This is really useful!! Could you tell me how far is it from the ropeway (gondola) to the temples? Could you walk or do you need to take bus? Thank you
