I don’t know, I’ve just always used a little lacquer thinner with a toothbrush. It takes the pitch right off!

Who do we believe. Some say use 50/50 water and laundry detergent and soak, thereafter spray with rust remover.

Water is fine on saw blades and many other steel surfaces. Dawn liquid and hot water is just one of many ways to clean your blades. So is naptha and bronze toothbrush. So is acetone and the same brush. And contrary top popular myth, so is oven cleaner. As a saw smith, we used to dip consumers' saws in Oakite to dissolve everything off the entire surface - edgers and mill saws, down to skil blades. That stuff was very caustic, much more than oven cleaner. No carbide tip ever simply released because of that solution.

With water, you rinse them off and hit them with a hair dryer. The metal will heat up and evap every molecule of water. I use the same method on my black power rifles. Have for decades. No harm, no rust - ever. Just the hot water alone is enough to heat the barrel to evap ALL water in less than a minute. A little gun oil and they can sit for years. You don't even need oil on the saws.

Mineral spirits should be a safe and effective cleaning solvent.

Cleaned my blades with Simple Green and water for years. I mever put any type of oil on my blades (and I never use WD40 on anything as it just doesnt do that good a job compared to others.)

Im in hot humid Florida, and my saw blades are one of few things that dont rust.

Noted, i used higher end blades. My 12" miter saw blades get upwards of $150, but the last for years. And I get the sharpened by a professional once a year at least. Its a much thicker, higher quapity carbide tooth, so they last through many, many sharpenings.

Now, im also making thousands of cuts in that time, so its worth it to me to have the best blade.

Thanks dude. That was exactly what I needed a year. That re confirms what I already knew. But that was a very simple and easy video. Because it's all about the time and care. Keep up the good work.
