Let me be clear, I adore Bebe Neuwirth… She ‘s a one-off triple-threat talent… Yet somehow I can not stop Ann Reinking. She steels my attention. So utterly watchable and hypnotic. I fell in love with Ann when she played Grace in Annie, and here she is again, having revived and dare I say, improved, Chicago… Ann Reinking was taken away from us far too soon. What a other-worldly talent.

I met the tall blond dancer in the mid-90s. She and a friend used the same veterinarian I did, and they’d brought a stray kitten in to be cared for. She asked me if I could adopt it (I couldn’t), but I found someone in my office who did. I knew she had to be a model or actress, there are many in NYC and you get accustomed to seeing them. But no idea she was a Fosse dancer. Anyway, a very kind and caring person. She offered to help with adoption costs, paid the vet bill, etc. It was only when I started seeing her in clips and such, not long after, that I realized it. Very tall, she was unmistakable. No idea what her name was. I think she gave me her phone number at the time, to confer about the cat. Wish I’d known to get her name.
