Показать описание
Building a dam using a hydro power plant in Cities: Skyline is something that is not as easy as once thought. In this tutorial i guide you through where to build it so you have a decent amount of electricity for your city without the water flooding your current city or producing no electricity and wasting your money.

Pro tip: if you place your sewage dumps above the dam and your water pumps below, it keeps good water levels on both sides

First Time I placed a dam it only produced 16, not worth it at all.

Even one that poduces 64 is not really worth it.
Or if you take coolness in to the calculation, maybe.

Thanks Jesse. I couldn't work out how to do this, but with a bit of research, and trial and error, your video has really helped. One other thing - to be cheaper than a solar power plant, you basically need a dam creating more than 427KW of power to get the unit costs down far enough.

Nice to know where the water line is supposed to be. One of the dam locations I tried would either not get high enough to produce power, or it would keep getting higher until the water flowed over the top of the dam. I guess I needed to go farther down the canyon find the sweet spot for height in between those two.

Great tutorial! I tried a few placements in my city and kept flooding. Now I understand why. Thank you!

I've found building lower down the wall in a canton stops flooding, and increases power production.

It's the drop that gives power, if you can have a lake on top of a mountain then the dam produces over a 1000mw easy.

The water in this game is way to inconsistent. I put a dam up, and it goes randomly to like 126 power, then 17, then 32, then 0, then 65, and so on.

In the end, dams just aren't worth it if you're looking for reliable power, they just look cool

Pro Tip
To make any dam produce 1600 or near that, place a water producer just behind the dam . Adjust height accordingly. then place one in front of the dam and drop its water level all the way down.
Enjoy.

Even if u place it where it doesn't flood cities it will stop boats from travelling down the river so its no good for me. It is fascinating how the power of water can generate electricity i suppose its like wind that makes a machine move to do something.
