United is good but AA is better. I get a flight from Portland Maine to Houston TX for 6k miles and 5 dollars but costs 12500 plus 5 dollars on United, both offer one free check bag and Group 2 boarding.

Are the card perks and status perks additive? Meaning if you get a free checked bag with status and you have a United card that gives you a checked bag, do you get 2 checked bags?

Also as far as status, do you have to maintain it every year? Meaning you need those pqfs and pqps every year or you lose your status from the previous year?
