Can u put another rod holder in the down rigger

You don't necessarily have to get the cannon ball and cable out of the water while landing a fish... for a big fish yes it would help (especially if you cannot control the play and the fish moves unpredictably)... but for small fish where you can control the retrieval you can easily manuever to avoid a tangle with the downrigger cable. I would say about 95% of the time I have left the cable and cannon ball in the water and have never lost a fish due to a tangle with the cable line... so just saying!!!

Dave, I have an Uni-Trol H.P. The Depth Counter doesn't operate and it appears the two gears (coynter/wheel) don't engage. How can I correct this?
