Going to the USA to escape discrimination is like hiding in a burning building to escape a flood.

They think that they can go to countries without asking for a permission easily or what?

Haitians have a skill for winding up as far afield as possible. Who would think that Haitians would go to Chile, of all places?

I see all you bleeding hearts out there that feel sorry for these people but never do anything to help them with your own money. SMH.

Most of what is in this article is simply false. Here is just a few, in a very long list of errors:

Haitens and other illegal immigrants were granted amnesty and residency under two different special laws in Chile over the last 10 years; not counting a special amnesty for children, regardless of their parents status allowing them access to schools, hospitals, etc. After 5 years of residency, all foriegners qualify for citizenship.

Those photos of those chilean IDs at the U.S. boarder are real, thus they had residency, and several have been traced by the chilean media to government subsidy programs. They are still receiving thousands of dollars from the Chilean government, while trying to claim they are refugees to the U.S. government.

A large number of these people are leaving chile because they broke the law in Chile during the pandemic lockdowns, and owe thousands of dollars in fines. Not totally their fault, but they seem to not understand that most of those fines will eventually be dropped. still, under chilean law, any foriegner that is arrested, is automatically reported to department of immigration. I could see how they don't understand what that means, and think it is better to runaway.

So this narrative about how mean chile is to hatiens is bullshit. Chile let in more haitens in the last 10 years than the united states, and granted the majority full residency, provided subsidies, free medical services, etc, and a clear path to citizenship.

That’s stupid! You don’t leave your baby for no reason! A mother does not ask a stranger to watch her baby, cop or no cop!

The pain, suffering and effort they took to travel to US; if they have put the same to change their country for better, the US citizen would one day migrate there. But instead they want NGOs and human smugglers to stack their coffers.

As someone who lived in Chile for a couple years I totally agree. Discrimination and racism against Haitians is something common there. The government denies them citizenship and ID cards, so they can't work. Medical care is extremely expensive if you're a foreigner, and the system is purposefully designed to make foreigners leave the country.
I've met so many people that made fun of Peruvians, Colombians and Haitians and how places like PDI (think ICE in the us) purposefully deny migrants the chance to get legal documents.
Not all Chileans are like this, mind you, but the government is and those who defend it also agree with its racist and discriminatory policies.
