He was a real good goalie for them. Not an easy task to replace a legend like Ken Dryden especially in front of the Montreal fans. Too bad the team was aging and forced to patch up the roster at that time. Liked his cool mask design back then as a kid. That era had classic paint schemes that were simple but effective. Not like today's airbrushed, intricate and overly detailed mask designs that all resemble the next guys. Classic goalie masks like Cheevers black stitches...Drydens red and blue bullseye, Gilbert's black stars are all iconic, memorable and were easy to see from the nosebleed seats.
