A man looking for God is like a man who, looking for his reading glasses, finds they were on top of his head the whole time.

You keep the dialogue going in a wholesome fashion. I think whatever definitions people use to define God is both true and untrue at the same time.
You feel God as per your vibrations, experiences, and thoughts.
There is nothing which is not made by God's essence and yet nothing which exists is God.
God is...that is the truth. But God is not limited to any religions definition about IT.

it's interesting to hear accounts from near death experience survivors who describe meeting a beautiful all loving "being of light", or as one woman put it who died and came back, she found herself in the "breath of god"...so my feeling is IF god does exist, it would be as these people describe..as a being without a body..some sort of greater mind or consciousness or energy..but that's the nearest I can get to what I believe god could be like.

So many comments are, "Why did he talk to THAT sect and not MY sect." I sometimes forget that while I'm here "intellectually slumming, " others (many) are on their tiptoes on the top rung of their ladder.

Realize that feelings of mistrust are simply feelings. There is great truth and wisdom, in not Identifying with the feeling. Just sit and "Be". Notice how the "feeling" comes and goes. Who is the one... Who has the mistrust?

Wonder leads to real knowledge, ideology leads to idolatry.

How about changing the discussion a bit: there is God and this is all we know. Is there a universe? Is there existence? Do I exist? Is there good and evil?

What John Leslie was describing was NOT pantheism, but the orthodox belief of Theosis.

Those of us who are genuinely looking for god, should read the book The Human Self and Allah by G A Parwez. Others can keep trying and leave this world without knowing it... its all about our self which needs a higher self to develop it.

Many names

As native Americans danced for the one who brings the rain
Who are we to say that they were calling him by the wrong name
Buddhist monks make holy water from a toxic lake
And the faith was all the same
Who are we to say that they were calling him by the wrong name
Mountains can be moved and languages can change
But the one who creates everything is always the same
So don't point at me and say that our gods are not the same
There is only one on high
And he goes by many names.

The host is amazing, unbiased and curious...Robert represents us all who are out there seeking truth...As a viewer I would love if Robert invites more Muslim scholars.

I'm with you, Robert. When I ask myself, what does it all mean? I see that I can find nothing that matters except - or more than, by far - love and kindness. So, I think, for answers, I will look where there is the most love and kindness. .... and where is that? (I think)

The old arguments for the existence of God have all been dismissed by clever thinkers.
We now have a new shiny argument that is scientific and therefore impressive and respectable.
Coupled with the physical evidence (lightning), I am now almost totally convinced that Zeus exists.

For me agnosticism concerning the existence of a God is perfectly fine. I have no problem with not knowing. Would I like to know? Sure. But I also feel that if there truly is a God who actually cares whether I know, then it's clearly up to that God to make itself known to me. It's not up to me to determine if God exists. Only God has the omniscience and omnipotence to make that happen. I surely do not.

What I can be quite sure of is that some specific religious paradigms describe a "God" that makes no sense to me. In fact, I'm convinced that their descriptions of God are clearly false due to the obvious self-contradictory nature of their descriptions. These include all of the Abrahamic descriptions of God. In other words, I'm convinced that if there is a God it's not the God describe in the Torah, Bible or Qur'an. If a God exists, it's far more likely to be described more correctly by various Eastern mystical religious paradigms such as Buddhism, or Taoism, or others. However, I don't even find those descriptions of God compelling.

So if there is a God, it's clearly up to he/she/it to reveal itself to me. It's not up to me to reveal myself to God. That would clearly be ridiculous. So it's a question that only God can answer. I'm simply not in a position to answer the question. I'm forced to be agnostic (i.e. without sufficient information to answer the question). And I have no problem with this. Apparently, if there is a God, God wants me to be agnostic. Otherwise God would reveal himself to me. Pretty simple if you ask me.
