My favourite genre of video is people talking about obscure things they’re really passionate about :v I love people nerding about stuff!

Laura, you could talk about sand for 15 minutes and I'd still watch the video. Your enthusiasm is what makes anything you do WORTH IT :-)

I’m 69 years old. More than 50 years ago an old carpenter I worked under recommended that tape measure to me. I was a newbie and did as he recommended. Over the years I’ve tried countless other tape measures and have found none as good as that small Stanley. Back in the day there used to be carpentry tables and information printed on the back of the tape but sadly no more. Tried to order your tape holder but sold out in less than ten days. I have obsessed over tape measures for more than 50 years guess that makes me a nerd. Thanks for the entertaining video. You make nerdy content entertaining.

I love the return of making stuff. The house things are fun, but hearing you thinking through problems is my favorite.

In every clip, Laura is like a big kid who enjoys simple things, and she’s so natural and organic. Thanks…

The fact that the magnet holds your piece in place when grinding the bolt is ::chef's kiss::

I have lost so many tape measures because of the clip location on my tool bags. I use Veto tool bags for work, and they are without a doubt the best bags ever made. However, the tape measure clips is right below the bags carrying strap. Every time I pick up my bag, the strap hooks under the tape and pops it off onto the ground, and bye-bye tape measure. I believe your product would solve that problem.

I'm not really interested in tape-measure, or even construction. But I am VERY interested in creativity, passion, excellence, and growth. So based on the first 2, I've been following you for years, and watching your excellence grow.

Wow wow wow! I never knew what the notch is for and now my mind is blown. Not only do I do most of my projects alone so this is super helpful, but, I'm going to be drawing circles all over the place!

I kept a tape measure clipped to my pocket at hip level or in the tool belt when I wore one. Never seemed to be a problem, except that that spot on the pocket needed reinforcing from time to time. Still enjoyed this video, as I always enjoy Laura's enthusiasm for the creative process.

Anyone else now waiting for the video where Laura makes a project out of 50 tape measure clips.

Just about every time a new video drops, I'm so grateful that Laura found her voice. Thanks for sharing!

You can get even crazier with this and attach the alligator clip end to a fidlock female attachment and the tape measure to a fidlock male attachment and then make it modular. Have other items that you can strap on and off during your day. I love this! Thank you for being so inspiring

I'm not as passionate about tape measures as you are, but I love listening to someone talk about their passions! This is a really cool idea, I'm always misplacing my tape measure 😂 The magnet is definitely chef's kiss 😙🤌 I prefer larger tape measures, mine is 25 ft, so I would more likely make my own so I really appreciate you showing us the process!

As a Cabinet Maker I use a tape measure all day long. In fact I ALWAYS carry one round with me so I can measure wherever I am in the workshop as my tape measure is always with me. I even forget I'm wearing it and often take it home by mistake, still clipped on. I use a Hultafors UM3ME as I'm left handed and the clip IS ON THE CORRECT SIDE. Unlike almost every other tape measure I know of. So how do I clip it on without it getting in the way? Very easy. It doesn't clip to my belt, it clips to my POCKET TOP. Super simple, super convenient, no alterations or modifications necessary. I also carry a vernier caliper in my back pocket and a pen (biro) and pencil in my front pocket for marking. All day long. I can go anywhere in the workshop and measure and mark out, without having to 'play fetch' for tools.
Okay, so my pocket top does get worn eventually (jeans/camo trousers) and the tape wouldn't clip to light fabric shorts or trousers without pockets. I'm in the workshop, I dress appropriately. And once the pocket top is worn, it's probably time to get new trousers anyway. The alternative, which I have done before is to get a small leather belt pouch to hold said tools. Either/or. both as good as the other.
Personally I think the holder strap you've come up with is an interesting idea. But for me it's just not necessary. You show how the tape hangs in the strap right over your pocket top, so why not just clip it there? After all who wants a big bulky dangly strap hanging off your tape when you're trying to get accurate measurements at the panel saw for instance? Don't want to pour cold water on a good bit of lateral thinking, but for me the strap is an 'overkill' when there's a simple solution in front of you.

I've got around the annoying belt clip thing by using my trouser pocket! My Carhartt bibs even have a squared off bit where the pocket joins at the base which is PERFECT for stuff like this. That said: I'm always here for tool improvements!
